Just an idea that I had that amused me. As I mentioned in the forum I didn't get as much time as I would have liked to shoot it since I spent much of the weekend diagnosing a hard drive failure, but here it is.

Thank you all for your comments, I really appreciate it! I really didn't care about the score on this one as much as I did about making people laugh. If this brightened your day it was worth the time I spent on it.

Wasn't there a song from Weird Al Yankovic (sp?) about pencil necked geek? Funny :-)
The photo is not very interesting though... E.g. a less busy background wouldn't distract so much from your subject.

Brilliant---I would have liked a plain background. This would have worked well in Corporate too. Good work.

Where on earth did you get those tiny little glasses? lol. Definatly gotta give you credit for creativity and originality. At first, I was thinking you should have used a better background, that this was a bit cluttered. Then I was thinking about the "geek" and realized that this was the perfect background for him. lol. you did a great job putting him together. Lighting is good and focus is great. I would like to have seen a more straight on shot, however it looks like you did it this way on purpose and that is just fine as well. Great shot and good luck in the challenge.

I have to admit, this is a humorous idea for the "pencil" challenge ! I'm not sure I like the "clutter" of everything in the background, but I guess he does belong in that atmosphere! lhall

Whoever did this has a lot of creativity and a great sense of humor. Quite a bit of patience too, I think. Needless to say, this is a fun picture. My only nitpick is to do a bit tighter cropping on the right and the left to reduce the clutter. 8 Journey

very clever..puting your pencil man off center to the left would enhance it.

Composition - quite good
Technical Aspects - quite good
Meets Challenge - yes
Visual Impact / Originality – good/high

I think this would have been a great picture of the pencil chap had you used a neutral background. The computer equipment is (I think) really distracting.

Very cute but don't like the background, though I am sure it is deliberate... to show a bored day at the office or playing with office stationery or such perhaps? But I tend not to like busy and cluttered backgrounds.

What's this?? Barbie/Ken doll clothes!!? LOL!
This is funny. Has that "funny college dorm room poster" feel. The background is necessary for the story of Mr. Pencil-neck, but the glass/vase in the background should be removed, and Mr. Pencil-neck placed a bit to the left to give him more room to look into the photo.
