Fairy Wandby EvaanComment: This is an astonishing shot that should place highly. Now I'm off to vote on 1) bugs 2) flowers 3) who knows?
Good luck in the challenge. I think you'll do just fine. |

Out of Many, Oneby HornOUBetComment: This is technically well executed, but that is it. I am honestly suprised that this wasn't DQ'd due to the literal representation clause...but I'm not a fan of that clause anyway. In the future, utilizing your obvious skill in the technical aspect of photography while employing a more artistic aproach should yield you better results. |

Foulby ImagineerComment: Remind me never to borrow your camera...ever. A lot of talk is made here about shots that do well and shots that don't. You know this won't do well based soley on the subject alone. I mean, come on, Americans hate soccer - plain and simple. |

mountain snailby arlanbartComment: I would like to see the focus here on the shell rather than the snail's flesh. Granted, the snail's flesh is interesting and highly textured, but the shell here is fascinating, looking like an old piece of furniture with an inlaid top and a shellac finish. Good composition and color, though. |

Dripping from a Forkby plfgComment: Interesting subject...very unique here, unless a dragonfly is holding the fork or something...even then it's still unique. I can't decide whether or not I like how the shot is cropped. All at once, I'd like to see the drop that is falling (maybe because that is a common thing to see in shots of this type) and I am glad you cut it off, since it goes against convention, making it stand out. The shot is odd compositionally, but I can't put my finger on why. Good luck in the challenge - sorry I couldn't be more clear in my comment. |

Fight or Flightby mrmorrisComment: Very delicate photo...why is the feather in water? Granted, it is a very small detail, and the way the surface of the water bends just slightly at the feather's touch does add to the softness, so it is a good choice, I suppose. I like you color choice and composition. I wish that macro shots could allow a greater depth of field, as the shallow depth here leaves me wanting more. |

in her gardenby jmritzComment: Well done...I think this is the first that I have come accross where the background - always extremely out of focus in macro shots - is well suited for the subject. It is a bit spooky due to the strong shadows on the face. |

The 203rd Flowerby cpickettComment: I like the dark processing here, but I am a bit odd. Honestly, I wonder about the choice of processing since it isn't something you would normally see in a flower shot - I mean it's harsh, contrasty, and black&white. Certainly a bold choice. As far as cropping goes, I think a closer cut would be nice, so as to eliminate some of the extra space on the sides. For the most part, I do like this shot, despite my grumblings. Good luck in the challenge and happy shooting. |

Natural Form.by GeocideComment: I like this...it is a bit freaky since your back looks like it is smiling at me in a very menacing way, but all in all, it's a cool shot. The tones are great. I don't like your subject almost looks pasted onto the background, but it does add a bit of depth to the shot. And, while the back is cool, the fingers are the most interesting part to me. I don't see strong leading lines, but all the same, this is...cool. |

The End Of The Pathby Mr_PantsComment: Considering that the composition of this shot is basically centered, I would have liked to see you more centered in the patch for taking the shot. You did line up over a mortar joint, but you are one joint off in my opinion. Basically, if you want something to be centered, make sure it is centered, otherwise everyone will notice, even if just barely off. If you want something to be off, make it enough of a break from center that people will know it was done purposefully...sorry to rant about this. I do like the central idea of your shot, and I think it is mostly well executed. |
