I'm more interested of what's in your D70 for this one. The portrait in itself is not very appealing, but it's points up for the reflection. I hope you got a good shot for the Boat challenge while you were there :-)

Ok, I found the camera in there - and I actually think the image is visually appealing. But it's points off for interpreting the challenge a bit too freely.

A bit over-staged, it becomes cluttered with all the flowers. The frog was a nice idea, but would have made a better company to the camera by itself I think. Still on the better half of the submissions for this challenge.

Nice shot. It's a pitty the light house doesn't appear more on the camera display, and you could have lost whatever it is in the lower left part of the image, but still one of my favs in this challenge.

That's a lens, not a camera. And a really bad shot of one at that. Over saturated, over sharpened, over the top in so many ways it becomes hard to tell what I'm looking at. About as far from a portrait as you come in this challenge.

I don't get it. It looks like a rotated product image, some clip art, and some over-the-top photoshop filters applied. Far from a portrait and far from a photograph. Perhaps I'm missing the point, but to me it's just generally unappealing. Or look at it this way - if you had your portrait taken and someone delivered your rotated head in a flower, would it be what you expected?

Nice composition. Would have scored it high if it weren't for the slightly over-tilted blue in the middle blue row, 14th from the top. It attracts the eye too much. And pixels 38-40 in the penultimate yellow are completely blown out. Also, you should have aligned the welds - lazy lazy!

Since I'm one who toasted you, without a comment, here goes my thoughts.

First off - composition is messy. I have no idea what to look at. I agree with the comment "quick snapshot of something colorful in your daughter's toybox".

As to technical merits, I find it over-saturated, unsharp with too high contrast and with no thoughts when it comes to lightning. However I have no idea how you put creative lightning on something like that. From behind? Low from the side to cast long shadows? I'm uncertain, but not with the onboard flash anyway.

Back to the concept of indecision. I didn't get it - I admit that. I've read your explaination and I still pretty much don't get it. Reading the title didn't help (I'm from Sweden, "beady-eye" meant nothing to me - and with an image of this quality I wasn't going to find out). I feel that image should speak for itself, without the title. The title can / should help, but not be essential.

You have not offended me, but I think your reaction is one of being offended yourself, and although I think you could have deserved more constructive comments, I think the level of your own commitment to making the photo reflects on the quality of the comments. You didn't try very hard - so neither did the community.

I think you have an excellent shot, but I think it's too red. If you open Hue/Saturation in Photoshop and adjust the red level you can see that it's nearly all red actually.

I adjusted Hue/Saturation (desaturated reds a bit), used Curves on the red channel mainly to try to find a more natural skin-tone and finally some color balance where i pulled the yellow/blue a bit to the yellow. I'm truly no expert on this and it was a quick-fix, but I think I got it to look a bit more natural. I've uploaded it into my portfolio as Janni2. Hope you don't mind - I'll of course remove it soon.
