Yeah, the title only means something to me, I suppose. This is my beloved S3, which has fed the photographic monkey on my back for the last year or so. I've gone DSLR, and you know what they say...once you've gone DSLR, you never go back.

This image was taken at the Port Dalhousie Marina, on Lake Ontario. I've actually submitted a couple of images from this location, which adds to the personal irony of the photo. Taken with my newest lens, a thrifty fifty. Post processing included several exposures from the RAW image, tone-mapped in Photomatix. In photoshop, a soft-blend layer with Virtual Photographer/Sulphur. Curves, photo filter and level layers as well. Unsharp mask and Neat Image, border and save for DPC.

It might take a while to get used to my new Rebel XSi, I keep blowing out skies and highlights, because I can't seem to bring myself to use the auto-modes. Nevertheless, I LOVE THIS FREAKIN' CAMERA!!!

As for my S3, it's being put to good use...see?

Thanks for the great comments. I find myself agreeing with karmat, it does now seem flat and a bit understaurated. The lower left corner is actually the pier I was on as I took the image, and I probably should have cropped more carefully. I saw this shot in my mind's eye, but I just didn't execute as well as I could have. Still, thanks one-and-all, for your votes!

Nice shot. It's a pitty the light house doesn't appear more on the camera display, and you could have lost whatever it is in the lower left part of the image, but still one of my favs in this challenge.

The sharp camera shot and the soft background are very good. A winner for me. Just wish the flesh color in the llhc wasn't there.

good concept and focus, nice add of the lighthouse backdrop, light seems a bit harsh here though

Creative aproach, but does raise the question, is the back of your head considered a portrait?

Good composition, but it seems a little flat, contrast-wise

Nice Depth of field here! I think I would have liked it if the whole arm of the tripod made it in. I know it's not the focal point, but it kinda grabs me eye. But to me, the highlight of this photo is the composition of the big pitcture, and of the little picture on the viewfinder. Very nice!

the arm in the corner is distracting and i think if you wouldve cropped some of the bottom off the pic would work alittle better for me
