Location: San Diego (Ocean Beach Pier)
Date: May 17, 2008
Aperture: f/16

I had to try every lens I had to get a nice reflection. Surprisingly, the 80-200 gave the best panorama.

is what the camera was looking at.

Post processing:

* Convert from raw (crop, levels)
* NeatImage
* Clone out a bunch of dust on the lens surface. I need to keep my lenses cleaner...
* Curves layer to increase the contrast of the reflection
* Soft light layer, 10% opacity to increase the overall contrast
* Multiply layer to darken the sea wall behind the camera
* Resize, sharpen, save for web

It's funny how much I like looking at some of these older images with a little more time under my belt. A truly exquisite effect in the lens.

I'm more interested of what's in your D70 for this one. The portrait in itself is not very appealing, but it's points up for the reflection. I hope you got a good shot for the Boat challenge while you were there :-)

Nice use of natural light. You have actually created a personality in this shot, by focusing on the image in the lens. Some folks might feel that the camera becomes a secondary image because of this choice, but I like it.

One of my favourites from this challenge! Tack-sharp just where it needs to be, a brilliant idea well executed! This definitely says portrait to me with the reflection in the 'eyes', very nicely done!

Awesome! Love the compositon, and the reflections in the lens are sweet. The black areas and textures on the camera are very nice. My one complaint would be the background. Everything else is so cool, the back ground sticks out.

Beautiful clarity. I really like the way you are showing the scene in the lens.

Len reflection is great, I wish the background had been a bit darker.

Unfortunately the lens & the image reflected by the lens is more interesting than the camera itself
