Desert Moonlight by dsidwellComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
This really is a WOW! shot David. Without knocking the shot I wonder what it would score in todays dpc climate? I feel as if I want to be sitting in a deckchair within the image, relaxing and viewing the scenery. Dare I pic fault with a shot scoring 8.296? There seem to be quite a lot of white specs in the foreground? and is that really a red star? Even though you used some noise reduction software the sky still seems a little noisey to me.
The colours, composition and light are just awe inspiring :) |

Midnight Rendezvousby dsidwellComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Hi David, its three years since you submitted this and think its about time you reshot it (using skills learnt this past 3 years and someone elses shoes maybe lol). No need for me to comment on this as 1, its all been said and 2, its been a long time.
Awesome port btw and all those ribbons! you should frame this lol. |

Curiosity ( killed the cat )by MambeComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Hi Mambe, super capture that made me smile :) My monitor runs a little dark so I lightened it up a touch in CS for a better look. I doubt you could improve on the pose, the expression and readiness to pounce is spot on.
Whilst the pic was on my pc I tried a couple of crops, one was a portrait crop from the end of the ledge (full length) and the other was cropped from the end of the ledge (from just under the paws upward) and I think both had a little more impact and lost the clutter on the left.I'm thinking in the right comp this would be a 7-8 from me and if the whiskers were sharper maybe a rare nine ;)
Thanks for showing me this.

Reflections on Florenceby sackerComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Hi James, I think you captured this at the right time of day as the warm evening really lights up the bridge and main buildings. Looking at the ripples in the water I think you did well to get the reflection a clear as this. Did you you use a polarisor? (the sky is darker on the left than right and it doesn't look as if the sun was 45d to you).
For me its not a 'wow' image but a great memory from your break (maybe even a travel guide shot). As for the sharpness F/3.5 is pretty shallow but the bridge looks fine, maybe try a little unsharp mask if you are unhappy with sharpness? |

The Girlsby PedroComment: 183 views, 3 favs (one of them mine) but no comments? another excellent horse shot from you :) the sky adds a strange dimension to this. |

sulking Pepi.jpgby Penny LaneComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
A lovely pet portrait Penny :) Pepi certainly looks a bit miffed at being made your model. I'm not sure if it was post processing but his right leg seems soft and no detail in the hair? |

Crystal Confusionby cools98Comment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Scott, I viewed the image, then with my initial thoughts read the comments and whilst maybe not a ribbon winner I think it should have scored higher. I think Heather hit the nail on the head, it is too tightly cropped from the top and right and the wisp of light bottom left is distracting. A very unusual shot, I like it. |

Tombstonesby kirsty_mcnComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
Great composition here with the young family walking out of a dark area into the light and away from the cemetery. I agree with rex about those 2 leaves and wonder if the focus would work better at the front of the shot with a little dodging/burning on the front tombestone? |

Pathby hannekeComment: comment from my 1-4-0 thread...
This is the type of pic that reminds me to recalibrate my monitor again lol so (viewing from 45 degrees) a lovely subdued sunset sets the bg off well, I like the top and right hand trees framing the image but think the main tree is too central and maybe not straight? Using a penlight to light the path during a long exposure is a great idea and would have loved to have seen you taking this lol |

Great shot! lovely colours and crop on this and the antenna are awesome. I like what you have done with the background but between the tail? doesn't look quite the same as the rest of it. |
