Wk-4_B&W-Side-Challenge.jpgby twmaxComment: Am first drawn to that greaty cloud filled sky the past the main building and down the street before returning via the sky and then ..... you get the idea ;)
A couple of old trucks in the foreground would have made this timeless.

Chaosby Bruce_the_RobertComment: Should have taken that shot today Rob, the rain was flowing freely in Norwich today ;)
Am glad you left notes as to why and what you were looking for as it helped me to view the image in the way you want us to (if you get my drift). Definately best out of kilter and think this would work best in a set/series of images portraying 'emotions'

Week 4: The Entertainerby jasonlpriceComment: Love his expression here! and its good to see a different composition though would have liked to have seen his entire hand.
I also agree with the others re the square crop, makes a nicer image and #3 is not mandatory so if a square crop improves an image then go for it (was good to compare the two crops as well).

The Ladsby RetroesqueComment: Ah, candids, I need to get out and take some and, might start off with peoples backs (so they don't know lol).
Like the comments about looking the same (they all have large left ears as well).

The River - monoby dainmcgowanComment: Welcome aboard dain :) I'm a little slow and it was your 'money' shot that reminded me we met last year (you were trying to break into the moneybox at the tate lol).
Lots to look at hear and it gives me a sense of peacefulness, I think your composition is spot on, its just the little bit of haloing on the right hand bridge support that bothers me. Am sure it would look even better printed large and on your wall (even better someone elses!).
Great start to our year of B&W ;) |

_DSC2308 Nina 1 yellow 4 ren.jpgby pawdrixComment: Must say I do like this more than the original but then if you get to work with a perfect model how can you mess up? (hang on, I'd mess up so guess a little of your photography skill helped the photo along the way lol).
Please say hi to Nina next time you see her (and tell her I'm too far away to be a stalker so she is safe lol). 2008 is going to be a colourful B&W year! |

Wateringby UrfaKComment: Welcome to our little side challenge urfa and please keep your membership up - you know you want to ;)
I'f I'm honest I don't think this is amongst your best B&W work, you have some great B&W images in your porfolio :) am guessing this is telling a story rather than competing for a black and white masters challenge. If thats the case then it does its job well, the brick wall taking up almost half of the image makes a point about space and the location (I wonder whats in the hole made by the missing brick?). I guess the loose stone shows work/rebuilding being done. Now, is he washing the windows? Think you did well with the water and it shows motion well without it being a blurry mess.
See, 5 minutes looking at your picture and (if I'm honest) what first looked boring turns into a good work of social history ;) |

North Fork American Riverby jdannelsComment: lol, very good :)
Some serious pp'ing here, I must try more than my basic editing. A quite like the overly? dodged sign as it works well with the lighter sky around the bridge. Initially a very simple image but there is actually lots to it :) My only thought is if your were to D&B the post to a more extreme level it may make it more striking?
I need to put a day aside to give your profile a better viewing - am in awe :) |
