This is William, my youngest son. Grandad and his older brother Andrew are goggling over him :) I was going to use this for the framing challenge but decided to enter "childhood without children" instead.

Edit to add..I actually prefer a square crop on this shot, but I was trying to follow rule number 3...here is my prefered cop:

Such sharpness in the eyes, such searching. In all that is here, I see those eyes, and can't wait for my next to be born (end of May). Tones work exceptionally well here to emphasize William.

Perfect focus on the eyes. Great perspective. And I love the finger in the mouth. Very cute.

Priceless! The lighting on the face of your son is fabulous - and how the two are so entertained by the chewing on a finger - great stoff!

Great B/W! My take on the little man's expression is this. "Why are you asking me? I don't understand a word you are saying? I don't even know how to talk yet? I just arrived in this planet, and you appear to think that I have the clues tto some deep, dark mystery! Mommy....."

How cute! Isn't that the truth that babies can be such entertainers. I too like your preferred crop better as it brings more focus to William.

Oh what a sweet pumpkin! I love those big eyes - he looks almost like a doll! The square crop is better as it helps balance out the foreground framing. Cute photo!

Love his expression here! and its good to see a different composition though would have liked to have seen his entire hand.

I also agree with the others re the square crop, makes a nicer image and #3 is not mandatory so if a square crop improves an image then go for it (was good to compare the two crops as well).

Looks like everyone is admiring that cute little one. Interesting way to capture this to show your "awe" for him.

Oh Jason, this is so wonderful. Nothing like enhancing the radiant glow of a baby's beauty with this type of framing. You can't go wrong with this photo, but I actually am a pretty big fan of square crops, so may even give the edge to the square one. I'm so glad you're here. A great opening week photo :) Oh and No one's posted more than one yet, it just started last Saturday, so you are even with everyone. The only reaso a few are posting #4 is because it is the 4th week of the year, but we've only had Week 1 of the challenge. . .so you got in just in time :)

Can't wait to see more!

Foreground framing within a context is what I learned from your well executed photo. The intimate is always something worth looking at.

Nice framing, I like the eyes staring through it. Btw. he's grown since September!
Perhaps a square crop would be nice here.

And great to have you along on the side challenge.
