Yes, this isn't my best b/w work.. but b/w was the best way I could bring out the waterdrops and I think I spent too much time on them. This was complete candid and the picture was created with more of me fumbling with the camera and trying to get the picture without him noticing :D
I couldn't have moved either way because I was on a pile of bricks.. the house is being newly built so that'll explain the busy-ness..

Very nice! I really like this composition. The foreground blocks and bricks on the left make a great frame and the light shining through the water and onto his face is just wonderful. Great job!

Excellent candid for B & W! However, ther has got to be an easier way to take a shower! :}

Wonderful candid shot. I definitely like the way the water drops stand out.

Great way to start off the challenge - I think I'll have to try a few candids myself. The light reflection off the drops make this picture sparkle; glad you brought your mojo to the challenge.

I understand about wanting to take pics without people noticing. I'm too chicken and that is why you won't see too many in my portfolio lol. I love all the lines in this pic: The brick in the foreground, the wall in the background, and the wires coming in diagonally. I like the water - creates the sense of energy. And the black and white looks fine :)

Nice candid. The man looks very concentrated. There are a lot of bricks here (nicely sharp), but they take a lot of attention. Perhaps a little blurring of the bricks would help.

we are all glad you got your mojo back - this one is a sight to behold

wonderful lighting on the water and bricks with just the right control of exposure

the level of details - the crossing lines, the depths of the bricks all provides the right level of complexity. it is funny how we get conditioned to only think simple images are good - i think complexity can work very well and you have done it here

You remind me that visual notes are useful, arty, and current. A glance at the right time reveals pure art. That's what I learn from your photo. I usually like your work, but am at a loss to know where on the planet most of it takes place.

I really like the light the way it glistens off his head and brings out the drops, its like you get all the effects of contre jour with out the glare. It reminds me of a world trapped off from the modern by a brick wall.
A little PP tip to make rain drops really pop out. Copy the image then do a high pass filter at 10 pixels. Filter->Other->High Pass. Then set that layer to hard light and it sharpens the drops. You can mask out the parts you don't want affected. Hope this helps

Overall I like the image of the man, but the building behind the water doesn't quite fit into the mood of the image for me. The stone and the brick work contrast with that building and I don't think that fits with the story you are telling with the image. For me, and I might be the outlier, I would like a better feel of just what he is using the hose to do. I can't get that from the image.

The water drops look beautiful in the sun light and the face it lit well. My only concern is the wall which takes half the frame...I have the urge to move it away!

Nicely done, there is alot going to keep the attention. The old guy looks like he has character and could be a study by himself.

It is great to have you along on the side challenge.

Welcome to our little side challenge urfa and please keep your membership up - you know you want to ;)

I'f I'm honest I don't think this is amongst your best B&W work, you have some great B&W images in your porfolio :) am guessing this is telling a story rather than competing for a black and white masters challenge. If thats the case then it does its job well, the brick wall taking up almost half of the image makes a point about space and the location (I wonder whats in the hole made by the missing brick?). I guess the loose stone shows work/rebuilding being done. Now, is he washing the windows? Think you did well with the water and it shows motion well without it being a blurry mess.

See, 5 minutes looking at your picture and (if I'm honest) what first looked boring turns into a good work of social history ;)

What an excellent story this tells. I love it! This is perfect in black and white. Yes, you got your mojo back -- if it was ever missing :)
