Took this picture in Grand Rapids, Michigan while scoping out architecture. I happened upon this when I turned to look down a side street after taking a picture of another building.

Wonderful perspective here, and lovely processing to bring the textures out.

Very good perspective on this! I love the brooding clouds and the noise in them. Actually I wish there was even more noise in the building...And that spiral staircase is just great!

Nice job on the processing to bring out the details of the building. It wasn't a good day to shoot and yet you nailed it.

Great photo, very nice conversion. Old buildings have so much character for B&W and then add the cool spiral stairs in and you have a great shot.

Lovely shot, but perhaps the brick work to the right needs a bit of a boost in contrast. Otherwise I really do like this.

I cannot take architecture shots. I just don't have an eye for stuff like this. I love the curved staircase. It's wonderful how it acts as a border between the two buildings. Great perspective as well. I really get that feeling of one tilting their head way back to get the view up to the top.

Nice image - I like the angle. Would a bit of sun have made the stairs stand out better?

Very nice, Amanda! I love the ange, and that winding staircase adds so much interest. I really like the way it's processed too showing such rich tones and that turbulent sky.

Very interesting to look at. I like the angle and the stairs are very nice. A lot is said already. I agree with SaraR, the stairs are very centered. Just crop some of the left and you have a complete different look.

i really like this - to echo Urfa's sentiments, I wish the stairs were a bit more prominent. Perhaps if you had cropped the stairs before they ended at the top, giving a feeling like they continue out of the top of the frame. Still, a cool image - and I like the grain.

An interesting mix of patterns. I wonder if the composition might seem a little more balanced and coherent if the stairs were off-centre, perhaps by cropping the picture on the left before the roof ends? The grain really adds to the feel of the image.

i know i would not want to be one of the folks using that staircase! it is a great find and i like how you presented it from the perspective. But i feel that the image could use a bit more punch on the contrast - the grey bricks and grey sky seem to overwhelm...wait a sec...maybe that's the point....

Anyway, watch the sharpening - you can really see it along the edge between the building and the sky...

A very neat perspective shot very well suited to B&W.

The composition is really nice but is there any way that the stairs could become more prominent.. I would like more contrast on them because they've really been captured nicely but need to stand out more to become a feature..
