I have looked at this particular photo on 6 different monitors and the difference is dramatic, from quite nice to - not quite so nice. The comment below from Beryl may help you feel more confident about your future submissions as you have no control on the gamma settings any other viewers/voters are using.

Very nice picture and a very happy looking child, Good Idea too... It looks a little canned or perhaps like a studio shot. I gave the photo a higher than average shot based on that. If there had been more detail in the picture to indicate that he reallly was 'letting go' of the bars while riding I would have given 2 more points. Sitll a great idea & picture.
