Minor Sunrise in a Major Keyby inspzilComment: This is a beautiful, serene photo, but I think it could have done with a bit of post-processing work on the colours and levels. The area of sky at the top is a dirty brown colour (at least on my monitor), which could have been altered slightly to bring out the reds and oranges in the sunrise better. I like the silhouette of the trees and the very subtle details I can see of the landscape. The wispy clouds around the sun are gorgeous. Overall, nice work.

House Finchby SwashbucklerComment: Seems a bit low res, but other than that the DOF is nice and the framing is great. The colours seem a bit muddy, but boosting them would only increase the noise. Maybe it would be nice in black and white?
Updated to say: This is what I got when I converted it to black and white out of curiosity: //lisa3d.org/images/photos/dpc/birdBW.jpg. I also adjusted the levels, and did a little trick of duplicating a layer, blurring it, turning down the opacity to about 50%, and flattening the photo again. Then I sharpened it a bit. It made it a little less pixellated. |

Birds Eye Viewby spidermanComment: It seems like your camera is a bit low end and you did some despeckle on it. I don't mind that, it creates a kind of watercolour effect that I like :). The composition of this photo is spot on, in my opinion. I can't get enough of rusty girders and bits of old machinery, as long as they're arranged in an interesting way. The bird is a great touch... juxtaposing nature against artifice. I like it :). Lots of flair, even if the photo is technically flawed. |

Christmas colorsby kevinswopeComment: Hmmm... nice colours, lovely soft textures, and a nice interplay of light and shade. Although there isn't really a subject to this photo, it's kind of nice in an atmospheric, aesthetic and tactile way. Interesting idea. |

Marcoby amonteforteComment: I love the expression you caught! Very spontaneous, and full of personality. The photo is sharp, beautifully exposed and lit with soft, diffuse light. The DOF is great. You've pushed all the right buttons, so although the photo doesn't really grab me I still think it's objectively worth a high mark. |

Stairway to Heavenby goodtempoComment: Very cool idea. I love the textures and shapes in this. Your camera angle is great, lifiting the photo and giving us converging lines to draw the viewers eye around. The colours seem a little bit washed out on my monitor, but that's the only flaw. |

BB'sby AnachroniteComment: Very pretty. As abstract photos of inanimate objects go, this one pushes all the right buttons. The colours and tones are rich, the lighting is just right, and the arrangement of the little balls is interesting enough to keep my eyes wandering around for a while. It's not a really exciting photo, but it's techically good and I think you achieved what you set out to do. |

Turkey Feather Still Lifeby KazComment: The photo doesn't grab me, but I like your lighting. It brings out some nice, soft highlights on the bottle. I just think the still life is a bit bare, the elements don't connect or support each other particularly well, and the reflections just add to the feeling of disjointedness. The background is nice in an elegant way. |

Melancholy Melodyby nards656Comment: I love your choice of camera angle. The photo doesn't grab me, but I appreciate the thought you put into it. Many people would benefit from considering angles and composition this way. I can imagine this on the cover of a book. |

light's ebbby aelithComment: Wow, such rich tones! Something about it just doesn't sit right with me though. I think you've tried to include too much in the photo. A tighter crop around the tree would be very effective, I think. I know that sounds like a very predictable suggestion, but it's what my instinct tells me, not just to make it conform to the usual standards people apply to photos here :). I still rate it pretty highly though, for its colours and light. It's a beautiful shot. |
