Stairway to Heavenby SJCarterComment by CEJ: Should have done better. Lighting is very well controlled in this shot. Exposure could not have been easy since it appears you were handheld (walking tour...). The framing of the staircase is excellent. I really like how you offset its placement just a little and not more. The candle on the seat is a nice lead in. You are drawn to the stairs, look at that candle and the follow it right up. Almost like you are walking down the hall and around the bannister yourself. And the light at the top takes you off the stairway. Very nice lead through. The post processing helps make this as well. More color would be distracting and less would be flat. A very nice balance between desat/sepia and color tone. Well done Mr. Carter! |

Buchanan Theatreby SJCarterComment by divadaedalus: Hi Jimmy!
Thank you for such wonderful shots for Harry's Christmas present. I can attest to the fact that the lettering on these buildings is this dark. The reopening of the Theater was a gift by Jimmy's parents to all of us who live in this region. The volunteers are "Standing Room Only". Jimmy's Dad helped Harry remodel his house. Buchanan is really as it seems in these pics: a Southwest Virginia mountain haven. Loveya Jimmy! MMM |

Harry's Houseby SJCarterComment by dahkota: wow. This is extremely well done especially considering the detail. Very good work! One thing you might think about is applying a 'wash' of color, either in photoshop or after printing (glossy paper wouldn't work I guess). I think these would be perfect for that technique. Very cool. |

Buchanan Theatreby SJCarterComment by ShutterPug: you sure have a good eye as for getting just the right angle/composition! Very good PS skills too. What a nice series to review. The only thing I would have liked would have been a bit more contrast on each - but that's just my personal preference. |

Harry's Houseby SJCarterComment by ShutterPug: I like the angle you shot this from. Again, good work on removing power lines, etc. This one is my favorite of the four |

Wilson Warehouseby SJCarterComment by ShutterPug: I like the effect, though not sure if I would want the faded look so much. Guess I just prefer more sharp contrast in this style. You've done a real good job with the power lines and all. Reminds me of the drawings builders show you of a hopme they can build for you. I always liked those drawings - sketch style. |

Buchanan Theatreby SJCarterComment by CalliopeKel: You did a great job on these Jimmy. Im sure the business owners will love them, and you may even be able to sell them around town who knows. Keep up the creative work. |
