One of a series of shots taken of historic downtown Buchanan buildings (originally commissioned Christmas presents, but plan to use them in other ways now too).

I knew that your average run-of-the-mill photograph wasn't really the recipient's cup of tea, so thought that an antique "pen & ink" look would be the way to go. I really like the way the first four have turned out, so plan to add to the series. I think that they have a lot of mass appeal in this neck of the woods - the whole "historic" thing...

Thanks Maryanne & Mom!!! :-)

PP included a LOT! There are utility lines EVERYWHERE in town and I spend untold hours meticulously erasing them pixel by pixel, trying carefully not to get bricks or shadows or tree limbs out of alignment. Sometimes I was more successful than others - lol.

Filters used (varying transparencies of selective layers): photocopy, glow:edges, accent edges, glow:neon, poster edges, cutout, backlit, negative, B/W, antique, Neat Image.

I like the effect, though not sure if I would want the faded look so much. Guess I just prefer more sharp contrast in this style. You've done a real good job with the power lines and all. Reminds me of the drawings builders show you of a hopme they can build for you. I always liked those drawings - sketch style.

Very Nice! I think this is my favourite of the three! I love the brickwork detail captured, and the shading looks excelent. Really, all three apply to this. I like the prespective, and how it shows the depth of the building especialy. The stairway i find looks a bit busy (not sure whats at the top), but It's extreamly nice!

I think this is my favorite out of the series...it's very clean and clear, and the angle of the perspective is very effective. Great editting :)

Wow! You have done it again Mr. Carter! This is totally excellent in every way! Very expressive and very realistic in representation! Very well done!

Your approach to the subject is very reminiscent of period photos and paintings. I would love to see the 'pre' image.

What a neat idea! I love old photos from the late 1800's/early 1900's and this truly has that type of feel to it. Especially love that the building has Christmas decorations on it adding to the holiday spirit!

Wow! You've really achieved a great effect here. It does have a great old time appeal to it. I can understand the work on it would of taken a long time. Well done!

I think these are great. They remind me of the old postcards that was drawn in with no color. I think back in the early to mid 1800's. I think the effect has a great emotional and era feel but I would keep it old building that are in good condition. Doing that would give each photograph a great vintage look.
Great Work both on the taking the photographs and post processing. I really like picture one, two, and four because the effect seems to fit the subjects. I like picture three but the building looks to new for the processing used.
I hope this helped, and believe me you did a great job.

Pretty cool, almost looks like an architectural draft/drawing.
