spring offeringby grahamgatorComment: Reminds me of a scientific botanial print, good detail in the two main flowers. Good studio lighting although with slight darkening of background toward the bottom of the image. Should score well ahead of most of the darker grey images in the competition. |

snow roseby posthumousComment: I suspect the brownish color will decrease the scores. I'll be interested in any description of how this was made. |

Search in the snowby hajekaComment: Without the dog, it looks like some very large bare trees along a frozen shoreline. That was my first impression, then I noticed the dog, which set up a vibration between that perception and recognition of a smaller scale composition. |

high feverby jmritzComment: Interesting to see such a wide gap between scores by commenters (6.8, would have you at third place) and overall average (4.1, landing you at last place) -- one of the largest gaps I've noticed. The blur and noise contribute well to the artistic effect, an idea perhaps foreign to the 32 voters giving "1" or "2" scores. |

The Game is Upby mrchhasComment: Lovely model and good concept for the challenge. The black triangle lower left edge distracts -- minimal doesn't allow cropping, so in-camera quick look at all the edges becomes important (a composition skill I frequently forget, which makes me more aware of it). Could use a bit more exposure to make the whites more glaring (befitting the dramatized setting). If in an auto exposure mode (where the camera tries to make majority of picture neutral grey), exposure compensation can do that (tweak based on preview or histogram, if the camera has these features). |

Delicate Landingby Mark of SRQComment: The blurred background tones go well with the colors of the insect. To my eye, cropping square to remove the right hand dark area could potentially strengthen the image. |

wheelsby whiteroomComment: Circles: wheels, heads, tire (?) in far background, loops of maybe barbed wire, headhponse
Contrasting lines: curb, fence, bike frame
Moment captured: wonderful expressions, sense of motion
Processing: black and white excellent choice and well executed
I was looking for this in the top ten or twenty, if for no other reason that the happy combination of artistic elements enhancing an instance of very good street photography
