All in a Rowby sherpetComment: My attention goes straight to the surf rolling in on the horizon in this image. The tan shore against the blues of sky and water make this pleasing to see.
I find it odd that I rarely notice borders on pics unless I see something about it in the comments with the pic. It happened with this one. I enjoy images with small details on the horizon and spotted around within the image. This one has that quality. |

Lake Tahoeby LevTComment: The sun peeking out, with the way the limbs are all pointing to it, make the layout in this pic very strong.
Without the sun, it would just seem to be a pretty snapshot, but with the sun it is just sweet. It's a very calming image to look at for me. |

The Roof Above Our Headsby adineComment: Tired old houses show the end result of the battle of humans against nature.
Nice capture, and it connects with my emotions about who lived there and how or why they left the place. |

West Coast Prideby zeuszenComment: I very much like the way you didn't over expose this. I try to shoot most flowers the same way in order to preserve the lighter areas of the plant and to keep the color saturation up. Nice sharp image, and I also like the way you included the leaves around the flower. |

MinimalDay22.4Web.jpgby cogeroxComment: I think that I also like this longer focal length shot better. It features the hills in the background better this way, and pulls the elements in tighter overall. Too bad you missed the sunset shot. I would like to see that when you shoot it. MinimalDay15Editedby cogeroxComment: Very clean looking PP. I like the way you adjusted the color balance to get the white back to right. |

DAY 18. unedited . contortionist ..by rozComment: Ouch! and more Ouch!
Cool shot Roz. You were at the right position to get this trick captured well, and with the right lens to isolate the subject from the background with the 2.8.

The tree that dwarfed the sun.by David NewlandComment: The f 2.8 caused the need for the sudden shutter speed. I assume that you used the big aperture for shallow depth of field, to put the sun out of focus?
I shoot into the sun a lot too, and like the orange in this image, and that the tree is in good focus.
Keep shooting and keep learning. |

Reflections on a Purple Dressby scarbrdComment: I see the purple pattern and dress as bringing back fond memories for her when associated with her expression. It took me a few seconds to see that the primary image is a reflection, so that likely caused trouble with the voting. I think that it adds a full dimension to the image to have the bare shoulder the way it is. The image meets the challenge just fine to me. The purple pattern is the focal point of the emotion connected with the image. The backlit highlight in the hair is a plus too. |
