I like your interpretation of the challenge theme. It is true that it did not really state that the photo HAD to be black and white. However, I think it would have been neat to see it in black and white, to compensate for the loss of some detail on the right side of the face - maybe it would have created some mood lighting there. lol

Out of the 5 pics, this one is certainly the best. I love how you captured the sunlight on his face. You caught him in the "moment" and the lighting enhances that feeling. There is something about all the darkness on the left that doesn't sit right with me. Something needs to intercept it a little. Have you tried just lighting up his arm and guitar and leave the rest black? I mean lighting up the parts we don't see there on the left. I don't know if dodging(?) might do that? Anyway - cool capture!

This is very pretty. Love the mood that the lighting creates - and it adds a nice glow to the wood too. Have you ever had a chance to get closer and take a picture square on of the statue? I bet that would be gorgeous! The only thing that is a distraction is the stuff at the top of the pic.
