I went for a drive along the blue ridge parkway on a beautiful day... there was great sunlight, and i kept hopping out of my car getting images of a wide variety of old civil war era fences.

This served as an opportunity for me to work on my b+w images, which is something that i'm working on improving. In fact, b+w is the main theme I will be exploring in my 2k7 picture a week blog. In this submission I took it a slight step further by going for the sepia look... not sure if i'm excited about it for this pic. BTW, when I say work on b+w images... i'm still shooting in color, but doing the b+w conversion on my computer. I'm skeptical of the b+w feature on my camera. I should probably try it out, though.

I cringed when seeing this all week, and will probably do so until I get it out of my top four... I mistyped the title and it sounds really stupid. While things aren't perfect in the world, they are nothing like the problems experienced in the 1860s, or even the 1960s. Oh, well...

It's not sad, really - it's history, a monument, and a reminder. I like the stark presentation - great light chosen for this.
