Stillby NuserComment: Would have preferred more even lighting- brightness on right-hand corner is distracting. |

Pears in a Bowlby admart01Comment: The pear in the foreground appears to be floating. I don't like the tones for the image- looks like the fruit has gone bad! |

The Balance of Serenityby UbersteinyComment: Wow man...this is great. Glad to see you succeeding. Strangely I just added you to my favorite photographers just now. Strange because I always swing by your profile to see what you've been shooting.
Anyways...excellent job. |

Ties that Bindby pejyorkComment: Greetings from the critique club!
Great moment you captured here. I see that there are some commenters that didn't tie this to the challenge which explains why you received a low score. (Most thought of dream as in what you do while you are asleep I guess).
As one commenter indicated there is a fair bit of noise here. I am not really sure why as you are using a fairly low ISO.
You did have a fairly wide aperture that caused some blurring. The other thing I would point out is that the focus seems to be on the mother's hand rather than on the baby's.
The conversion does work but I would adjust the levels to give it a bit more contrast as everything is rather gray with no blacks or whites at all.
Congratulations on your first grandchild by the way! |

alone in the darkness.by nostalgicComment: Greetings from the critique club!
Excellent "found" shot. It didn't quite look like you expected but sometimes those are the most interesting shots. I like the composition here and the ghostly appearance of the reflection. Its a fairly dark image but it really suits the shot.
Well done! |

Walking the path, asking Castaneda about don Juan, missing peyote...WAKE UP!by gjumiComment: Greetings from the critique club!
Overall this a pretty good idea that was pretty well executed.
Judging from the effect you were looking for I would say go with a really large aperture and get lower. This would then look like a nice sharp foreground with the image softening as you go back. The path takes you into the frame so a lower angle would emphasize that.
The black and white conversion works well for the challenge and the image but it is quite dark. There's nothing wrong with that but there might be more visual appeal if you played with levels and/or curves a bit to get greater contrast. |

My worst nightmare : ME FIGHTING MYSELF!!!!by androctonComment: Greetings from the critique club!
As mentioned before this is a really great idea that is kinda hard to pull off effectively. Some editing in post would have helped this shot quite a bit I think.
That aside getting away from the wall might have helped as there are some harsh shadows. Also, since your are using a long exposure anyways, I would have used a smaller aperture to get more sharpness.
A different angle would also help set the mood a bit and perhaps get better lighting of your face (especially on the left hand capture).
I'd be interested in seeing another attempt at this shot addressing some of the issues presented here and in other comments. |
