I like the two shades of brick against the grey. Makes me think of Mondrian, though the mortar on the right seems broader than that on the left, which throws the precision off a bit. Is that effect caused by the bricklaying or the camera angle?

Tez, you are absolutely right. As I was taking these I realize the only way to get a good photo of a scene like this is to intrude. Not having the tabloid/paparazzi gene, I stood my distance. :-/

I was really struck by the light and mood of this photo (I gave it an 8), but there is something "off" with the composition that I still can't be sure of. I think it is how the top of the man's head meets the top of the wall and aligns with the bottom of the church -- almost as if the church building is sitting on his head. Move his hands a bit and you'd have a complete optical illusion of him holding the church, Atlas-like.

Surprising how many people commented on the sweater!

Lovely photo! It makes me think of Puck in the forest, or one of those turn of the century "photographing fairies" shots. The grain and faded colors really fit the image.
