By the way, did you use a scanner for this? I wonder, if you blocked the back with a black sheet of paper, if it would help cut down on the bleed thru? Just curious.

Nice! Good depth of field. I love when 'playing around' results in an interesting photo. Something about the shooting angle makes it seem sci-fi to me, as in "The Creeping Vines!" :-)

Very cool photo! Many years ago I passed Vulcano on the ferry from Lipari to Naples -- it was one of the most memorable sites of my life. On that same trip I spent a morning at a sulfuric springs in the region. I forget the name of the town. All I remember is that my eyes became so irritated I was blind for awhile and had to be led around by my friend.
