Bearry Christmasby PGerstComment: I agree with you that this probably deserved better than it got (it's better I think than the photos that placed near it). It's very bright and vivid and immediately says "Christmas." However on my monitor it seems over-exposed (the white almost hurts my eyes). |

Portrait of a Fatherby tivoComment: An appealing, professional, powerful portrait. The subject looks like an "old master" here. I wonder if it is your own father, or perhaps "a father" like a priest.

The Young Harpistby stevieianComment: Congratulations on a beautiful photo (and family); I thought maybe it was another accomplished self-portrait from your daughter. It didn't occur to me until reading your Photographer's Comments how tricky the black on black must have been. |

My Kingdomby MotekComment: Congratulations, I loved this photo (I'm a sucker for dog shots), I'm glad others liked it, too. |

a dangerous world by rozComment: Congratulations, Roz!
It's nice to see that you started with an excellent photo, so the processing is not just putting lipstick on a pig. Holy cats, that's a lot of processing! It's a testament to your skill that I voted high on this way (I tend to be wary of "overprocessing"). Gorgeous photo. |

Self Portrait Studyby shamerComment: I remember seeing this photo earlier in the month -- you must have posted it to your portfolio for awhile. It's very striking, though for my taste the eyes are a bit overdone. I think a subtler (more evenly drawn) line around the pupils would be less artificial. Overall though it's a good, flattering self-portrait. |

Watering Canby lovethelightComment: The pouring watering can was such an inspired touch. Beautiful model; I like all the brown tones though I wonder if it's too overpowering. Maybe a touch more color or white somewhere (milk in the watering can?). Just an idea, anyhow, I would have placed this effort much higher. |

A Welcome Respiteby KenComment: Congrats, Ken, on a beautiful photograph and a top ten finish! I hoped this was yours. I know this lighthouse is a popular subject for you, but this time you really nailed it. |

Flyingby J-MeComment: Hi, Jamie. You wrote "this was shot on a blue background. Levels and color balance, hue & sat had adjustments made on them to darken it down to a dark blue/black (depending on your monitor). I then, used the dodge tool to lighten up the area around the model."
If that is true, then this shouldn't have been disqualified! |
