This was truly a challenge. Bought the figures at Ikea for the shot. The idea was having the two interacting somehow so adding a Bratz doll skirt was a natural choice. :)

At first I posed them as ballerinas but the images lacked drama. Thought Tango would have more impact.

The lighting was done by a small softbox fitted to my flash above and slightly behinf the dolls. I used a cheap Lomography ringlight as a frony fill and trigger for the main light.

This is cool! Sad about the DQ. 48 hours is pretty miserly.

Well I sent an email a day too late asking if I could send in the original and explaining why I couldn't send it within the timeframe but go no reply. :-/

I really like the reflective surface they are dancing on and the whole "glamour" aspect of this photo.

PS: I was very sorry to read your 4th place entry was disqualified.

DQ for no original image?

There must be something someone can do about this. This shot was obviously shot for this challenge and not shot in the days or even months before the challenge date.

Gorgeous lighting, I envy you whatever lights you have! Great sense of movement love the poses, the only thing that looks a bit odd is the dress - looks transparent at the dancers' midsection. Some cloning or selective use of lasso and hue/sat would have darkened it enough to look less transparent. 9 anyway.
