treesby poserComment: In general I think this is a bit overexposed. There's no winning with a daytime sky, but there are a lot of spots on the tree trunks and the rocks in the foreground that appear to have lost all detail.
The black and white processing you used seems to work well. Nice range of tones throughout the shot. I think the shot itself sort of suffers from the lack of any main subject though. As I look at it I keep wanting to be able to zoom in on those large rocks in the foreground. Wondering how it would look if shot from down low with the rocks and those tree trunks dominating the frame (and there would be no more sky to worry about either).
Overall nice work. |

three/thirtyby UNCLEBROComment: Don't hate the border but I'm wondering if you are doing your sharpening after adding the border? There's that weird sort of halo that follows the border around. Interesting composition and I think the subjects lend themselves well to black and white. Nice shapes, nice tones. Don't care for seeing the vase or glass in frame. Other than that, nice job. |

B&W - Day 3by mkComment: I agree it is a bummer about the cut off wing, but other than that I really dig this. Black and White Photography had an issue out a few months ago centering on photogs in Hungary - some of the most interesting work was purposely out of focus and blurred (yours is not blurred) and I found it both captivating to look at and very inspiring.
Only thing that holds this shot back for me is it could use just a bit of a contrast kick to provide some tonal separation. Other than that, I think this is a real winner. |

2by mia67Comment: Very nice composition with plenty of interesting things to let the eye feast on. Perhaps just a tad overexposed? Could be what you were going for, more towards high key. Not my particular cup of tea, but that's not to say it doesn't work here. The photo defintely captures a feeling of childhood curiosity. |

56' Wagon Day 3by jackal9Comment: The range of tones within the car itself is pretty interesting and the focus f the shot is great. Might be worth revisiting this and going a bit crazy. Shooting from below the car, above the front, right down the side, etc - there's some good stuff in here, but this particular composition might not be making the most of it. |

1.jpgby BenComment: Lots of interesting texture throughout the shot and well focused. It's a mugshot so there's not a lot to comment on, but for what it is I like it. Maybe the shinier spots could have been avoided, but I always run into that when doing self portraits so I'm not one to talk. It's generally why I go low key with the lighting (masks my inability nicely). Good work. |

crisisby boysetsfireComment: Great subject matter for a black and white shot. Love the background patterns, everything is just sharp enough. Having the guy mostly blacked out is the icing on the cake. Really nice work (no suprise). |
