On a Wing and a Prayerby AbraComment: This may have served you a little better than your entry. I imagine that you would have received several comments about the statue facing out of the frame, because that's the "rules". Today for some reason it doesn't bother me at all though. I'm going on the faith that you clearly intended it to be that way or you wouldn't have taken it that way. |

Far From Homeby Brent_SComment: This image is very "Seattle". I didn't recognize any of the buildings, but I knew in an instant during the challenge that this was Seattle. Judging by their walking shoes and instrument, these look like kids that set out on a musical voyage, which is pretty common up here in the NW. |

Searching for Guidanceby GrayEllaComment: Well duh, now that you say they're feet, they certainly are feet! I guess my suggestion for next time would be a bit more DOF letting the lines of the feet show up just a little. Maybe around the f/3 ballpark. It looks like you were struggling for light though (ISO 1600, 1/60, and f/1.8). I'd probably also suggest a better lit room, heh. |

Searching for Guidanceby GrayEllaComment: Pretty decent photo, but whatever is in the background is really bothering me for some reason. I can't figure out what it is, and my eyes go straight to it every time. |

The problem with shooting that wide is that the flash will probably wash out the shots and overexpouse them but I will give it a go and see how they come out. Also the dof is very, very shallow on a macro lens - even at f14! |
I don't necessarily practice what I preach so to speak. Most of my bug shots are f/10-11. Everyone has always told me to keep it in the 5-8 range. I can't remember specifics, but it has something to do with the curve of the lens and staying more towards the middle. Check out Roz's portfolio. She actually manages to keep it open. |

Sirensby ekmaiComment: Wow, this is surprisingly good. I went right past it initially, but came right back. I think my brain is programmed to see that shade of green and go, "yawn, another waterfall". This is anything but another waterfall shot. |

profileby mayizeComment: A square crop might have given this more impact. The silhouetted child on the shoulder is interesting. |
