6-october 08 macros. paper waspby rozComment: You've capture some excellent detail, especially in the eye. The diagonals in the image make for an interesting composition. |

Helloby BudyaComment: Great use of DOF, well done. The tilt of the head just adds to the expression. |

spby malinaComment: Excellent self-portrait, you have amazing eyes. The hat works very well and I like the blurred hair in the background. |

5by hannekeComment: This is an excellent portrait, interesting pose and I like how the shallow DOF blurs the clouds and buildings. The subtle colours work well. The only thing that I would change is to have more space on the right so that she is a bit less centred. |

Flimmer in styleby hannekeComment: Great shot. I really like how she appears to be coming out from the shadows. From the catchlights in the eyes it seems like you used a ring light, that along with the make-up above her eyes gives her a very intense gaze. The only thing that I would change is to clone out the small freckle above her mouth, it throws off the symmetry you have going from her eyes down. I would also consider maybe brightening the catchlight in her left eye, it seems a little dim compared to the right. |

Dropletby lovethelightComment: I like the shape of the drip. The hotspots are a little distracting though.
If you are not balancing flash with ambient then the shutter speed of the camera is not relevant. Even though your shutter speed is only 1/200, the flash duration will be less. As an example, this was a long exposure (a few seconds) in a dark room with the flash stopping the motion. |
