Blow Itby KonadorComment: This is a cool shot. I wish the DOF was deeper to get a bit more detail in the triggers. I like having some shallow DOF, but this may be a tad much. The colored lights reflecting off of the bell is a nice touch. |

Power Cubedby ManicComment: Nice abstract. Good ability to get the white balance correct. Nice lines and shades. |

Yuleby KimblyComment: Great clarity in this shot. The texture of the skin as well as the lights not being to blown out is excellent. I'm actually bumping up this score. The more I look at it the better I like it. Your cropping is good and interesting, only trouble is the strand of hair up in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Nice photo. |

Harsh landsby NatashaComment: Good use of long exposure setting. The stark tree really is a nice foreground for the industrial background. Only bother for me is the branches leading right into the building on the left. If you could have somehow positioned yourself to have the tree seperate from the shadow of the building you'd have a near perfect photo. |

Marina in Decemberby MorganComment: I'm actually bumping my score. The more I look at it the better I think this is. I like the DOF and coloring. The touch of red at the bottom is a nice touch. Only thing that may make this a stronger picture is if you were standing center of the railings on either side. Good work! |

Ilussion and Gestalt studyby dimitriiComment: Nice clean shot. I like the trickery you have here. The only thing that bothers me is the right most hanger being cropped off. Other than that, nice job. |

Hanging On by welcherComment: Live in North Carolina :-) ?
This is a nice composition. I like the clarity of the lines in the ice on the stalk. DOF may work opened up a little, not to much, the blur of the background is needed, but with as much as you have, it almost looks, i dunno, like it has jpeg artifacts, but I know it doesn't. Again, nice shot! |

Spaghettiby JackoComment: I like artsy shots. I wouldn't have thought that spaghetti could be an interesting subject. Good use of light so as to no oversaturate or have to dark in between the noodles. |

Composition (Content)
I like how the right most flower points to the center of the image. I feel it gives the eye a direction to look at. That being said, it's pointing to open space. I know there are limitations to the camera you use, but NeatImage could help cleanup the noise in the sky and create a smooth gradient. The cluster of flowers are interesting with the many directions of the leaves.
Background
The noise is my biggest concern with the background. I also feel that doing some work with your color balance/contrast and intesity, the leaves in the front wouldn't be 'so in your face'.
Camera Work (Technical)
Limitations of the camera prevent you from being able to apply filters or do much in the way of shutter speed and F/stop so within the limits of the camera this is a ok shot.
Digital Processing (Technical)
Sharpening is fair ( Not sure you sharpened this photo).
Balance between light and dark is fair. ( Leaves are a tad washed out or lack enough contrast to show the individual direction of each leaf)
Compression is fair( Within the limits of the camera)
My opinion
Honestly, I had to just sit and look at this one for a while. I finally had someone else look at it and she said that it would be great as a Christmas card. I then took off my critique hat and put on my artists hat and see the potential for a photo like this. I feel that as you learn to use post processing tools a little more, you'll be able to have some images that go higher in the ratings. This one has potential. |
