Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.
First Impression - the most important one:
Yup .. you get the cute vote.
Composition:
This works well with the frame and the crop you have choosen.
Subject:
Meets the challenge .. does so well.
Technical (Colour and light):
nice use of the yellow and blues ... I like the way the frame looks quite old through lack of paint.
To grow its vote?:
need something else to focus on other than just cute ... a cross point of interest .. perhaps the child doing something other than posing.
Summary:
Good shot ... keep it up.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

First Impression - the most important one:
Lovely, nice framing of the people against the window ... lovely colours.
Composition:
I think this really works for this shot ... with the people on one side and the tower in the other frame it gives it a real balance.
Subject:
Meets the challenge with added flair.
Technical (Colour and light):
I like this .. it is a little 'dull' in some ways e.g. not bright colours but oh so appropriate for the shot.
To grow its vote?:
Top 25 .. is great ... and this is a good solid shot .. I am not sure how to get it a higher score .. but take a look at the top ten .. what do you think is missing?
Summary:
Great shoot .. you are doing really good stuff .. keep it up.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
I think this shot has a solid impact on the viewer. The picture is lucky not to have been disqualified as mentioned by one of the commentors there is no much extra from the grafiti.
Composition:
What you have here works, but that is all.
Subject:
Meets the challenge, but I think you need some more challenges to stratch your thinking and grow you natural talent.
Technical (Colour and light):
I love that this is natural light, and the sharpness of the picture.
To grow its vote?:
Needs more .. but this is your first entry ... and you did this and met the challenge ...
Summary:
Go with your imagination and make it work .. you are going to be so good on this site ...

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting framing here .. a little soft on the focus ...
Composition:
I like that the boat is in the single frame here ... it works on that ... the angle of the pic also works to me.
Subject:
meets the challenge .. I really hope this wasn't really your bedroom .. cos no shot is worth getting pnuemonia.
Technical (Colour and light):
I like the darkness it adds to the mood .. but the shot itself is soft and a little out of focus.
To grow its vote?:
I think this did well ... it is a solid shot .. and nicely emotive .. the sky being blue may have added .1 but I think that is all ...
Summary:
Your work is a little like mine in consistency going through periods of fantastic and ok .. but never "bad" ... keep up the work towards the consistency and improvement.

First Impression - the most important one:
Ok you already know from my previous comments i don't think this meets the challenge, but I still think it is a lovely shot.
Composition:
The bird is nicely framed here ..
Subject:
did not meet the challenge ..
Technical (Colour and light):
natual works well here. nice and sharp and a good DOF unless you want the window frame to be used in the shot.
To grow its vote?:
Meet the challenge :) ...
Summary:
Go for it .. your portfolio really shows you are doing well ... I like out of the box pics :)

Now I don't think you had your one handed keyboard for this shot so can understand not entering comments .. but I know you got it now .. they really do help with critiquing.
First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting shot .. good framing .. nicely out of the box this one.
Composition:
This is a reasonable though not stunning composition .. this may be due to the selective desat impression ... not sure ...
Subject:
meets the challenge in spades.
Technical (Colour and light):
This is good natural light from the looks ... and I love the DOF ... I am biased on selective desat and think it does work in some cases but it seems a little overkill in this shot ...
To grow its vote?:
I would have loved to have seen this in colour to see how that works ... this I think would make a huge difference to the shot.
Summary:
Good shooting .. you are overall improving all the time ...

First Impression - the most important one:
personally not big on the doggie cat pics, but this one really works well ... love the reflections which feed us his message.
Composition:
I like the way the dog seems to lie on the horizontal thirds here .. quite interesting.
Subject:
meets the challenge ... does it ok ... in fact does it really well!
Technical (Colour and light):
It seems a little washed out .. this may be due to the contrast etc ... but I don't know what you did.
To grow its vote?:
I think that it is finding a subject which appeals to more than one section of the community ... this is a good shot with a solid result.
Summary:
Good shooting .. you are learning well keep it up!

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
I'm sorry, but without any input from you in technical details or comments, it's just not possible to critique this image.
When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.
First Impression - the most important one:
Solid shot ..
Composition:
I like the composition of the shot and how it is frames here.
Subject:
meets the challenge.
Technical (Colour and light):
Crisp colours and what seems like a good focus.
To grow its vote?:
Without details on the shot I can't say.
Summary:
You are good at commenting on others shots .. so I was disapointed that you don't include details on your own which help us all to grow through the critque process.

Window of Faithby angela_packardComment: ::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
I love the capture of the colours .. and enjoy the silouette ... I have to say though I would have liked her to have a chin. Great pose ... and I being also afraid of heights think you are a mean photographer :)
Composition:
I really do like this with the bottom third corner capturing the model ... the use of the rosary also works well.
Subject:
Meets the challenge with an added hail mary.
Technical (Colour and light):
Looks like mainly the light from the window which is wonderful with a little from the front .. I think that is why I see a shadow from the leg, the picture is crisp and well maximised for immediate impact on viewing.
To grow its vote?:
This time I really can't understand the ones with the religous intonations I could understand the threes .. but really technically is great and interest is there .. so shoot the trolls ....
Summary:
Great shooting .. always enjoy critiquing your work.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
Not often in the comments i would say DNMC ... I did that as I felt your model was not framed by the window as well as she could have been.
Composition:
The composition has her head at the very center of the picture .. for this pose this works . .but it will not always be that way .. have you looked into the tutorials on DPC .. their may be some interesting advice there.
Subject:
I think your model is great ... but the challenge was "Frame the subject of your photograph using the window (as in from a building)." with her back framed by the crop and the right side of the picture without a true frame it didn't seem to do this.
Technical (Colour and light):
Black and white was a good choice .. but the grain filter I think got you slaughtered in the scoring. The size of the picture is good but the quality of the picture is lacking and this is probably due to the way you took the pic with the ISO settings etc. Without that information I can't help you.
To grow its vote?:
Thinking outside the box is great .. but still take into account the use of the camera and ensure that you get enough detail in the picture without blowing out the highlights too much.
Summary:
Good shot .. you are doing overwell very well according to your portfolio. look forward to seeing more.
