Challenge: Window Framed (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8-4.0 Aspherical for Canon
Location: Gillette, WY
Date: Apr 23, 2006
Aperture: 1/100
ISO: 100
Galleries: Emotive, Architecture
Date Uploaded: Apr 23, 2006

Taken the First Baptist Church in Gillette. The poor model had to walk along a 6" ledge with about a 10' drop off to one side and a 30' drop off to the other...plus she was afraid of heights...sorry Christine!

Cropped, rotated, resized, sharpened, hue and saturation, brightness and contrast...

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
I love the capture of the colours .. and enjoy the silouette ... I have to say though I would have liked her to have a chin. Great pose ... and I being also afraid of heights think you are a mean photographer :)

Composition:
I really do like this with the bottom third corner capturing the model ... the use of the rosary also works well.

Subject:
Meets the challenge with an added hail mary.

Technical (Colour and light):
Looks like mainly the light from the window which is wonderful with a little from the front .. I think that is why I see a shadow from the leg, the picture is crisp and well maximised for immediate impact on viewing.

To grow its vote?:
This time I really can't understand the ones with the religous intonations I could understand the threes .. but really technically is great and interest is there .. so shoot the trolls ....

Summary:
Great shooting .. always enjoy critiquing your work.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

If someone had told me I'd give an 8 to a silhouette in front of a stained glass window, I wouldn't believe them. But this is very nicely done. The mirroring of the cross on the necklace with the large cross is "crucial."

Cool colouring, really makes this shot work. Just wish her front face didnĀ“t blend in with the window post but other than that nitpick, awesome. 8 from me.

Nice colors. The cross breaking up the shot into multiple frames is nice too.

Super colors and nice composition. However I think it would have been even better if more detail on the woman (rather than a silhouette) was apparent.

Great colors here! I like the silhouette, but wish the profile of her face wasn't blended into the dark divider of the window.

I'm not sure that the window is framing the subject as much as it is the subject. but one hell of a picture 9 would be a 10 if the angle were a little different so that her face didn't blend with the part of the window.

I like this a lot - the problem for me is that the front of her face coincides with one of the vertical struts - would shifting your position a touch have resolved that at all or maybe not. Also, I'm not so keen on the composition. Nice lighting, colour and idea though.

beautiful abstract-like windows and colors! I'm not quite sure about the placing of the woman, because I can't see the silhouette of her face.

The human silhouette is too fragmented by the window frame parts, espcially her face.

This is a lot like one of my ideas I had for this challenge but I couldn't pull it off the way I wanted it. This is good, especially with the vibrant colors in the glass.
