I think this is a great photo and really like the choice of B&W. I think the composition is very good also, but I wonder, is there a reason that you didn't leave the fence and trash out of the frame.

I wonder how much all that wool on the mama weighs?

I think the selective desat really works well. It doesn't take away from, and even emphasizes the childs joyous expression. Looking for nitpicks it seems the sharpness in the face is a little too soft. Other than that, excellent photo!
