Thank you for the helpful comments and beneficial feedback.

For the record, the first time I saw another 'ant' picture was in this challenge (although surprised to see it ('Social Circle'), for me it was still a different concept). I conceded then my idea wasn't as original as I thought. When I saw "..i saw the same shot on..", I thought that I was going to see MY photo at that link. The referred photo I saw was indeed similar to my 'pre-pp' image, but it was the first time I had ever seen it. It was also the first time I ever saw the original to THAT photo (read the comments there if you are interested).

I concede the idea is not that novel now, but I did before that delusion was shattered ":)". All part of the 'learning'.

Here are some of the 'finalists' for my entry. My better half (who it seems was right, as usual) preferred the sharper angle, but I wanted to ensure it looked like a CIRCLE.

I chose the one I did because I liked the angle best and I liked how the ants out of focus created a 'blurred border'. I also liked the two ants in the foreground. For me 'the subject' was the actual circle, not the ants.

The original before 'pp':

PS: My Icelandic is a little rusty.

I missed this somehow during my 'voting/comments'. This is very nice. No idea the name, I'm guessing you don't either. I like the colors. For me, the only two things that would make this 'better' would be a fine focus on the 'flowers' (the middle ones) and perhaps a tighter crop or a nudge to the left, to bring the largest 'head' to the right foreground, and keeping/accentuating that depth you already have.

6 - Nice, but if possible more 'fore petal' focus. Rich colors.

8 - Very nice. Great colors. For me, I want to say I would like it 'closer' or more tightly cropped, but then I do like the 'scope' of that cone on the echinacea. I think it would be difficult to get all of that in focus like you have the top part AND keep the bee and top in the same focus, right? The background is also very nice.

6 - Difficult with such a small spider, but perhaps a different angle or perspective would have made this a better photo for me, also no 'darkness' at the foreground.

7 - Nice. Would love a closer look though. A real macro even, to get that ginger fur and lashes and that aqua green eye.

6 - Good concept. I would give it more but I know what a magnificent flower this is and a macro of the centre would have been great. An amazing flower. Wonderful perfume too. I like the cactus stems in the background too, though for me, more color or contrast of them, 'using them' as a background more (or even closer and the contrast of textures), would have made this better.

7 - Nice underside of 'anther slippers'. For me, a showing of the other side/pollen, especially amongst such a rich orange (natural?), would have made a great effect. Finer focus as well.

9 - Very good. Great perspective. For me, this would be near perfect had the left wing been in focus as well and possibly slightly 'raised'. The colors are very rich and the plant looks almost solid. Great capture.
