Challenge: Macro V (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5700

Aperture: f7.4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/8

Orange day lily in the morning light backlit. This was the sharpest focus of the batch but not necessarily the most artistic. The 5700 has a max aperture of f8 -- quite frustrating :)

Adjusted levels, saturation, brightness, contrast, burned some of the background and pistols/stamen. Applied neat image to remove noise, added a border, saved for the web

........ the apparent aperature limitations you have described for full clarity leaves you only an option to utilize selective focus - I think pretty well done on this one. (ursula certianly uses this technique effectively) Composition is quite good, as is what appears as the lucious red/orange natural colour - It looks to be very natural.. . Or a drastic alternative as in "painted display" in your portfolio, to apply some effect - (which I like a lot, but might have been a detriment during voting) My suggestion for "Glow" or a similar situation where advanced editing is allowed, is to implement some slight selective blur to complement and interact with the selective focus. In Photoshop (8 bit) select a background area and try smart blur.

Nice colors, focus and texture. Interesting perspective in a challenge full of simular shots.

7 - Nice underside of 'anther slippers'. For me, a showing of the other side/pollen, especially amongst such a rich orange (natural?), would have made a great effect. Finer focus as well.

Nice tight crop. They almost look like burnt out matches. Maybe a tad more clarity in the focus.
