My reason for a little soft in the focus, is the texture is lost on the breast of the bird. and how did you get an aperture of 1.8 on a lens that reads 3.5 ?

Reading your brief I now understand why I left the comment Slightly oof, shooting with a tele coverter as I learned from experience can do this at that distance, well done on your perseverance to get a good shot.

The awesome visualism in this shot is outstanding, congratulations on the ribbon. Do not understand the DoDo bird votes below 5 for this photo, can only suggest they are wild life greenies and don' like the sight of blood.
