Lazy pigeon. He wanted to get to the other side (who knows why?) but wasn't willing to fly to get there. So he was trying to walk across and blend in with the rest of the pedestrians.

As an aside (for those who may actually read the comments here), my high-scoring teammates on my in limbo DPL team (I'm still waiting for them to dump me when the thing starts up again) all voted for this one as my submission, with the caveat "you know it won't score well, but it's a cool shot". I love 'em. :-)

I love the title, composition, the black and white. Just a pleasure to look at.

This is brilliant! I always wonder how much is learned behavior when I see birds crossing at crosswalks. Do they think they are following the "flock"?

134th out of 249 ???

We have come to realize that life is not all about wow. It's about the moments in life, how we see them and how they will be remembered. A scene like this could so easily be overlooked, passed on as just a pigeon standing/walking there, but the way this was captured is nothing short of perfect. Your title couldn't be better too - certainly puts a grin on my face.
The other significance here, is that your image, though only average in numbers score-wise, has more favorites on it than some of the top ten shots in the challenge - that to me is worth 10x a good score, which by the way, I need to click to add to mine now.

I would have been proud to have taken this shot, and would have stood just as proud at the finish line regardless of the populous wow vote.

Well seen. Thanks for sharing this.

Title instantly put me in mind of Wallace and Gromit. I think this is a fine candid, and gave it a 7.

This is too funny. I always want to tell the pigeons "Fly, you're a bird!"

OMG Deb - this is yours! I got the biggest kick out of this photo - just love it to pieces. I figured it wouldn't score well, because really interesting photos rarely do. But you sure had my 9 for this gem. Just a few days ago I was driving down the road thinking about this very photo and it made me laugh again. I'm going to fav it.

This had to be yours. It makes me laugh. I love the composition and the b&w, and the way the bird seems to be marching along with the crowd.

Hi, I'm your neighbor, #133. Just stopped by to say hi.
A sharp, closer view, maybe angled a little more, may have been better. You could ask the bird to stop and pose, but they never listen.

Deb, maybe you didn't get top marks, but look at the number of 10's and faves for this. I love the fact that you entered this knowing how it would score and that it would appeal very much to a certain group of people (I'm one of the fans, by the way). Very cool.

I didn't comment on this one during the challenge, but it was one of my 7s - I often seem drawn to your photography!

I gave you one of the many 8's on this.

Very nice capture, i like the fact that the heads are cut off from the people, turning them into 'nameless creatures' in the life of the pigeon

But it IS a cool shot and I love the title. More great street photography from you. I'm amazed that there was just one bird there. I love that the focus is on everyone's feet. Very cool.

I've often wondered why birds walk around when they could just as easily fly. It makes me laugh every time. Your title is cute.

Very good. Even though the subject takes up very little of the composition he still becomes the main subject. Good use of B&W , nice contrast, focus looks ok. Nice job.
