The idea and the photographic execution of it are both terrific. And I love the guarded facial expression, especially for the clever title. There's something slightly strange about the processing; the hand looks slightly fake, like it's been added later. Maybe that's just me; I often feel that way myself! Anyway, it's a very good and interesting portrait. 7.

Almost went right by this, I guess because it is low key and understated by comparison with some of the more strident shots. Happily, I looked a for second longer and realised how good, how well conceived and executed, it actually is. Its impact steadily grows with each moment's consideration, which is exactly the opposite of most of those more attention-seeking shots. It's a lovely, enduring portrait. 8.

Beautiful and stylish. Shapes, lines and tones are a lesson to every photographer ... deceptively simple, but it's actually quite sophisticated. I guess you just made it look simple. 8.

I really like this unusual portrait ... it's not technically stunning I suppose (pretty plain and simple, really) but it has done what so few portraits, and especially self portraits, do; it captures something of the character and personality of the subject. And that makes it appealing and a pleasure to look at. Nice stuff. 7.

Well, Roman ... I like that hat! But what is also very appealing is the edgy and unsettling feel you've achieved with the unusual composition. It has a tension, maybe a deliberate lack of spatial resolution, that's uncomfortable and will not let the viewer think "hmmm, nice pic" and pass on without further thought. There's a photograph around here somewhere called "Inner Demons" that has the very same unusual and compelling quality.

I won't pretend that i don't know who this is, because I still remember the stunning self-portrait at the window. But you have done it again; I'm not usually crazy for the desat look, but in this case i feel you are making a deliberate statement (which makes me a little sad for some reason). And like the window portrait, the lighting is understated and classically beautiful. 8.
