Summer Daysby John WhiteComment: The first thing that came to mind was: Where is it summer right now??? Cute mother-daughter shot. |

Quality Timeby esdarbyComment: This is cute, but the actual subjects take up such a small area of the image. I believe that a close crop of just their legs and part of the bench would have been equally effective at conveying the message, without the distraction of all the background elements. |

unconditionalby tateComment: A sweet shot, but it leaves me wanting more! But I guess that's not really a bad thing. This is a shot that you could just look at over and over again. It speaks volumes with a minimum of information. I find myself wanting to see more of the baby, but then again, that's probably what makes me keep looking at it. I like it. |

Once upon a timeby jmritzComment: This image makes me so sad. I just hate that there are people out there in situations like this. This certainly looks like it could be the real deal - the shoes do throw me off, but nevertheless, there ARE people like this, and this is a moving depiction. |

unconditional loveby SeanachaiComment: Perfect dof here, and it's so cool that the baby is looking right at you. Love the black and white. |

Mother and Son, Country Silhouetteby PhotoTessComment: A nice silhouette, and you've captured beautiful colors in the sky, but to my eyes it doesn't look as crisp as I would like. I would also like to have seen a more dynamic angle for this to give it more power. Maybe with the fence at a sharper angle somehow to give it more interest. |

best friendsby suemackComment: A very sweet image. The teddy bear background distracts me a lot though! I would have preferred a tight crop of the two of them without any background showing. |

Mother and Sonby -crtComment: The lighting on the baby is very nice, but the lighting and composition of this effectively put the mother in the background, both actively and figuratively for me. Since this challenge is "Mother", I would prefer to see the mother and baby interacting in some way, and the lighting encompassing the two of them. Yes, I know it's nitpicking, but a first glance at this image says "BABY", and since the two are not interacting in any way, it doesn't really say (to me) "MOTHER AND BABY". |

The Mothers Look!!by JudiComment: I've come back to this 4 times now trying to comment on it, but find myself in a quandry every time. It meets the challenge, no doubt in my mind. I like the diffuse glow a lot, as well as the black and white treatment and the composition. My perception of the interaction between mother and son throws me, and though it has no bearing on the quality of the image, it does effect my overall emotional reaction to it. |
