Challenge: Mother (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ30

Date Uploaded: Dec 31, 2005

This was taken through my bedroom window
These birds were feeding on the bread thrown out by the next door neighbour. I didn't get any time to really zone in so took it on Auto
Before anyone jumps at me I have been told this is the male bird but I think the mothering comes through in this image
I dont expect it to rate high but for a candid image I think I have captured the moment well.

^that says it all and I think your 3's and 4's would have gone too if there was no blur on the bigger birds tail feathers:)

I gave your image a 10 and really wanted it to get to ribbon great shot:)

Even though a person sees this type of thing happenquite often, it usually happens so fast you never get the shot. Well down and am glad you got this one.
Good luck, deserves a high finish

Very creative and cute entry choice! This is such a sweet image. Very nice composition. Just a little over sharpened IMO.

Of the "animal mother" set, by far the best IMO, because it actually shows an act of motherhood. This is very nicely lit and captured; good luck with it :-)

I've decided to bump this up as my fav and give it a (9). I love the dof and how you can clearly see the food and the babies mouth open. It's just an all around lovely shot, and I would be shocked if it didn't ribbon. Good luck!

Composition is ok. The choice of subject matter is ok. The image quality is ok. Could have been a little more creative. - 5

Great capture. Great technicals. I'm not blaming you, as I'm sure this was caught on the fly, but I wish I could see a tiny bit more of "mom". 7

Would have been terrific if we could have seen both faces (or beaks...lol) But, the photograph itself is terrific! Great job!!

Lovely lighting, crop, subject and action. It seems a little noisy, perhaps relating to a large magnification factor. I think Neat Image, or some equivalent noise reduction filter, would have made this good shot even better.

It's amazing how the babies get larger than the parents at this stage! Cute capture. The blur in the bottom right behind "Jr" is a distraction tho.
