Music Orbby JMartComment: I saw you shot at f/45? is that correct? That is huge. :) I am not sure how you set up your strobe but with a fstop like that I am sure it was at full power or close. If you look over this tutorial, even though it is for bird photography I think it would help you get perfect stop motion. I think if you put your sb-600 in manual mode and set the power to between 1/16th and 1/64th power and lower your f/stop to maybe f/8 or f/11. The drops will be perfectly frozen. :)
Good luck. |

Morning Coffee #45691by h2Comment: I like the square crop to give maximum effect of detail inside the cup. As always your light work is excellent. I am guessing a softbox? I haven't learned how to light things well yet, so I could be way off. Thanks for leaving a comment on my entry even though you scored it low, I appreciate getting negative comments as well.

Benbrook Lakeby Yo_SpiffComment: To help focus, aim your camera at something really bright and far away, like the moon or in this photo the lights on the horizon. Once focused put it it in manual focus and you don't touch it and you will pretty sharp images, Thats how I do all mine, especially if you shoot on the wide end at 18mm. HOpe that helps. :) |

Week 6by chris48083Comment: Congrats on the new camera!
The photo came out nice, I would have like to see some more contrast maybe. Also whenever I see wood or clouds I want to dodge and burn all the grain . :) |

Week 7by chris48083Comment: I posted this on another photo on here but I think it applies here in regards to level horizons.
I was talking to my aunt one day who is a muralist in SF and she was asking me about what I look for in a shot and how I edit. And I told her some stuff and usually I try to have a straight even horizon. And she asked why, and I had no good answer, I think mostly its been drilled into me surfing here and on the web. She said that often horizons produced by artists that aren't level are meant to make the viewer feel that they are walking through the scene. Because when you are walking you are never really that straight up and down and the horizon would not be perfectly level. I
Sometimes I don't think horizons don't need to be straight.
I think this would also look good with some sepia toning. |

Week 2by chris48083Comment: If she was musician, I would see this as one of the photos on the inside of the cover, with liner notes written all over it. I like the deep blacks in the eyes. |
