Boxed Inby jpochardComment: Very clever idea and well executed. I'm amazed you were able to get the proportions correct to be able to have such a perfect crop. Great job. |

Grade School Memoriesby SDWComment: Scott - I've been in this position also, middle score with no commnets. It is easy to ignore the middle ranks and only commnet on the best and worst.
With that siad this was certainly not the worst. It suffered from many of the thungs already mentioned; overshapening, bright background, too much going on in the photo. It may have done better with a closer crop. I for one like the boy and got the relationship with the broken wall.
Hope this helps as I'm certainly not a medal winner! |

Returning from the huntby jbsmithanaComment: Thanks. I went for something different for a change. This is meant to have the blue cast in order to instill the cold feeling of an unsuccessful hunt during witner. I went kind of artsy for me and looks like I failed. This does look pretty good blown up though. |

Anna's In Winterby jbsmithanaComment: Thanks to all for the comments. As for the color shift I do not know how I did not noitce until after the challenge started. You are correct that it is shifted although not as much as you might expect. As for saturation it is pretty much as captured. Although I'm very happy with the finish I have to wonder how it would have done had I fine tuned the color balance instead of using auto.
In any case I'm happy with the shot and will post a few more later. (see outtakes thread) I have one that shows the beautiful red throat and crown.
Here is the shot with the proper white balance.

Drink For Tomorrow We Shall Die!by carloComment: Sorry but this one suffers from distorted DOF. Would have liked it better had the focus been on the front of the shot with the blur leading away. IMHO of course. |
