Ghost feet

The plaid overtone works well as a blurring mechanism. The inscrutable silhouettes are well projected before the bright background. As for the ghost feet, they fulfill the promise hinted at by the initial mystery of the dark people. Fascinating tale.

House of the rising clouds

Wonderful side-lit image, graphically almost simple but powerful. The burgeoning clouds seem to be heading towards the stoic, white brick building, infusing the scene with dramatic tension. Once again, the light is charged, and the grass, fence and mounds anchor the entirety. Really fine.

Fine black and white image of this lovely, self-possessed girl. Her haphazard strands of hair falling over her face hints at a wildness and freedom within. As does the spider on her shoulder. Good choice of background, gently setting off the color and texture of her shirt. The center is well held.

This gentleman, with his direct gaze, seems to hold his bass fiddle lovingly, like a child. He has a quiet dignity. Just a bit of blur to let the viewer understand that music is taking place. Nice depth of field. The light gives him and his instrument a soft glow.

Nice eye to recognize this hodge-podge of architecture, which clicks together like puzzle. There's a charming intricacy and pleasure about it. All those lives under the bright sunshine.

A Study in Red and Gold

Feels like a glimpse of a world of only birds. The ducks, crane and red-winged blackbirds are placed as if inevitable, even amidst a flurry of activity. The title is certainly apt, yet there is so much more. Moving (no pun intended).

Terrific breaking wave upon the beach. The layers and the glass-like ocean work much like a parfait. The dramatic, even chaotic clouds seem like breaking waves themselves, a mystic mirror image of the serene scene below. I gives the whole a deep resonance. That tiny surfboard paddler adds immensely to the image. Rewarding.

Beautiful, bucolic image. Painterly, perhaps even a watercolor. This is all about the light and the atmosphere, weather-wise and emotional. The sun and sky are very nicely presented. The further background fades into the fog, which imbues the entire scene with serenity. The muted palette is lovely in service to the mood. I'd expect to find such an image in a museum.
