Golden Globeby ZoomdakComment: Good use of bokeh to highlight the drop. However, the bright background does steal attention from the subject rather than serving only to make it stand out. |

Winter Roseby AranchaComment: Nice bokeh and good color contrast. Good capture of the flower, though light on the flower itself could be more dynamic. However, IMHO the biggest improvement here would come from a different crop--the vertical crop, tight around the flower, shows off the bokeh but doesn't do justice to the flower. Bokeh is supposed to enhance the foreground, make it pop, and thus should sit in the background serving to contrast but not drawing attention to itself. |

Old Court House in the shadeby graphicfunkComment: Wow--what great tones. Rose toning? Is that Waldo on the terrace? Looks like we ended up being neighbors on this one, LOL. One thing I noticed on this but didn't have time to comment: a slight perspective correction would have made the lines straighter. Something to think about if you are shooting for the architecture challenge--though I am sure you know more about that than me anyway!
Edit: Oops--I realize you could not adjust perspective here for the open challenge! Message edited by author 2005-01-12 07:41:35. |

Bokeh I.jpgby pumaComment: Beautiful! It may not have pleased the "bokeh is little circular lights" crowd though ;) |
