Winter's Last Hurrahby hahn23Comment: Fantastic scene. Feels outrageously cold thanks to that windy/cloudy background despite the nice sunlight. nice lead into the photo, and silvery. It shimmers. There's a bit of graininess in the clouds, but only noticeable because I've been staring at this so long. Wonderful photo. |

Calm Morningby JohannesFrankComment: Lovely tones. I like the high key effect of the hills in the distance. Just a hint. The lack of the vignette in teh top right corner at first felt off balance, but it gives it a sense of motion, as though that is falling back into the mist and the breakwater is coming toward the viewer. It's interesting.
If it had a vignette I think it would be a bit more peaceful, but considering it's so peaceful as it is this adds an interesting twist.
Very cool photo. |

My Slice of Countryby glad2badadComment: Great title. It's as if we are on the outside, peering through a natural frame into a different world. Nice depth. I'm leaning in to see what I can see. Is that a twister?! Well done. |

The rancher by Yo_SpiffComment: Very, very nice portrait. Great detail, sharp where it needs to be. And the composition is quite interesting in that his right eye seems hopeful while his left eye seems a bit sad, as though the juxtaposition with the black is negative and the brighter background has a bit of promise. Great image. |

Dogwoodby LydiaComment: Lovely detail and nice focal depth to avoid the annoying out of focus flower (the one guy doesn't count). Nice compositions as well. Nicely done. |

winter barnby bigskyeyeComment: There is a really interesting phenomenon occurring with the composition here. As expected, my eye starts with the lines on that post near the corner, follows along to the left, the other fence to the barn, take a good look at the barn, along the back fence to the right, and then back to the corner, to do it all over again. And again. My eyes are penned in by the pen! It's really interesting, and if it was on purpose it's masterful. Hell, even by mistake it's quite a cool viewing experience.
I think the rather bland sky and the detail-less hills in the distance lend to this experience. There really isn't anything higher int he shot to distract.
I do also like how the barn is a bit silvery, which does set it off a bit from the rest of the shot. Great photo. |

6 Stringby loveComment: Well composed. Nice use of those blinds and natural light to set off an interesting B&W image. Smooth and subtle. |
