Puintaguá...Pitaguá...Pituãby pedrobopComment: Personally, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that this scored so low. I think it's a stunning image. I think ursula is right--that it's too contrasty. I'd be curious what would happen if you did shadows/highlights on it in photoshop and took down the highlights a tad to flatten it out. It also would have been 100% better if you were able to shoot to the left so that the bird was in the lower right, instead of the lower center. However, as bird person, I think that it is a stunning shot! |

Covered Bridgeby FarmrComment: I have a few problems with the composition of this shot. The trees hold the most interest in the shot, but they're not very interesting. I think I would have liked it cropped in a bit more to bring the focus on the bridge. I'm also wondering whether it would have been more interesting seeing the creek or depression that the bridge is spanning instead of the trees to the side.
Last thought -- did you try flipping the image horizontally? Sometimes having the subject on the left gives it a little more prominence and draws the eye more.
(edited to change it to subject on left instead of right!) |

Le Mont Saint-Michel by gyabanComment: Wonderful! I love the negative space on the right. I wish we could have larger sizes for landscape orientation. I bet this would be much more spectacular at around 1400 pixels! |
