| 08/15/2002 07:41:00 PM | Hopes and Dreamsby NitenComment: This one is kinda scary.....O.K. newly married couple challenge? Suggestion: try to limit yourself to hopes or dreams (a small joke), seriously, I think there are tooo many items in this shot. Keep the rings (but display them so we can see more of the ladies ring, it disappears at the edge of the box); select one more item, let's say the card, throw out the rest as too busy (O.K. leave the ribbon, too....) 7 Swash | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/15/2002 07:50:00 PM | Classic Games (another generation)by KathycComment: Busy, very busy. Very clear shot, maybe a bit dark in places. Suggestion: how about taking the marbles out, display them "in front" (and in focus), then have some of the better looking packages in the background, fuzzed out. Do you see your reflection in the front-most marbles (I like that part!), how about a "field full" of marbles all with your reflection on them? 7 Swash |
| 08/16/2002 02:41:00 PM | Sea Foalby andrewmComment: I really like this photo! I know you couldn't control the scratches (or whatever) in the glass, but it is sooo distracting. The little buddy is about as clear as I have ever seen. There are a number of light reflections, as well. A couple could have been cropped out as they were near the edges, but you would still have several that couldn't be cut. (no down grade at all, this is more than hard to do.) 9 Swash |
| 08/16/2002 12:20:00 PM | Bottle Under the Lightby PurTurtle1Comment: I like the colors of this shot. I wish I could say I understood what you were going for. The title baffles me, I think I see a bottle at the bottom of the frame, it's kinda hard to tell. 5 Swash |
| 08/12/2002 07:53:00 PM | Living the Fast Life Under the Fogby briansuhComment: Wow, you must be sooo much smarter than me! I don't get the new-ness at all! This is a great, interesting night shot. It seems high on the orange scale, which always makes me ask, HOW? The trace lights are great, focus is too! Still, the best I can go is 5. Swash |
| 08/12/2002 06:25:00 PM | fawnby KrazyKatComment: Wow, and Wow and more Wow! Very impressive. I like everything about this shot. The fawn almost screams off the page. I love baby deer pics, but this is maybe the best I have ever seen. Well deserved 10, if I could go higher, I would! Swash |
| 08/12/2002 07:48:00 PM | The birth of.....by psychephylaxComment: Sorry, but this is just too red and too dark. (I can sort of come up with a reason for red, but it's a stretch, but dark? I reserve that for setting a mood) The necklace is very, very hard to see, esp. the cropped part. The candles...cropped and questionable, too. (You've heard this book isn't all that new, haven't you? joke) 5 Swash Addendum: Darkness - orange gold tablecloth, binding and candles are well lit. Book cover w/necklace chain (disappearing in the distance) seem to dark to capture the details of the chain. Cross cropped and out of focus. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/14/2002 06:39:00 PM | New Potatoesby muckpondComment: Since we've already been through my justificaton/reasons for giving you a 7 for this photo, I will just remind you that the whole world votes on these photos. Try to think about is this a somewhat localized idiom, or would the whole world call these little guys as the type called New? Everyone knows French Fries are not really from France, but they know what French Fries are. Would everyone know julien or au graten? Smiles! Swash (I am not a potato expert/freak/geek, really!) |
| 08/16/2002 12:36:00 PM | Reach For The Skyby spillerComment: Nice details. Good composition, great color. (envyous of your shot) I'm in a good mood, you just got bumped up, welcome to the world of 10. I hope you win, well second after me. 10 Swash | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/14/2002 06:32:00 PM | New Growthby waltomlComment: Tom, I gave you an 8, even before knowing this was yours. I wasn't certain if at first if the droplets were water or sap, water is a great friend! The middle section of the tree's growth is a little sparce, could you fill that in with some added needles? (fluff it up a bit...) Really, how about narrowing the shot to the upper third of this branch. Or, I've always wanted to see an evergreen with red needles and green bark, make it so! Seriously, well deseved 8. Swash |
