That sky is brilliant! Would like to have seen more of it.

harsh contrast. bad focus

is there a subject to this photograph? you might want to find one, and kill the flash. it creates a really harsh sphere of light that really detracts from the dark sky/sunset. also, there is massive jpeg compression in this photo that i don't think was caused by a low end camera, but rather by a lack of knowledge of post processing software. also, i don't see how this fits the challenge, but i won't take off any points for that.

I'm sorry, I don't really get the connection to the challenge with this one, The tree seems like it has a soft focus on it, but that could be your camera. I think this could have been improved by having the camera on a tripod and turning off the flash to get rid of the white spots, with maybe some other form of lighting on the bottle. A flash light oculd be used sort of like a spotlight maybe. Finally, The focus is split between the bottle and the tree. Did you consider cropping out the tree?

Beautiful sun set, but I think I'm failing to see the something new. I can't tell what the bottle is, or what the red thing right next to the bottle is. The lighting could be either brighter so we can make out the objects in the back, or darker so we don't see them at all. There is something yellow hanging from the tree, but can't make out what that is either. I don't get it, but then again, I wasn't there. Maybe the bottle is full of something new, but I don't think we can see that from the picture. I think a close up of the bottle would be good (if that's the center of focus), or you could give up the bottle completely and go for that gorgous horizon! Good luck.

I like the colors of this shot. I wish I could say I understood what you were going for. The title baffles me, I think I see a bottle at the bottom of the frame, it's kinda hard to tell. 5 Swash

Sorry, but very the bottum half is very blury. The tree above is blurry also, but not as bad. Your point of your pic is the bottle (judging by your title); however, the bottle is not the focus but the tree above is getting all the attention in your pic. Next time try to focus in on your sublect you want us to see and let the other stuff (tree above, trees in background, darkness, light, etc) *support* your subject rather than be a "slave" to it. I give your pic a 2. Keep trying. All of us have to start somewhere, so don't get discouraged.

Interesting lighting.

This is great example of how to use fill flash, but you've lost the focus on the bottle; that spoils it quite a lot for me. Having said that, on the positive side, it's dramatic, interesting and full of colour… A sharp image here would have been superb… Challenge link (I think) is very weak… Sorry for being negative…

Too blurry and the flash takes over the lower portion of the picture
08/13/2002 08:10:00 AM
I do not see how this relates to the challenge. Even the title left me in the dark (no pun inteded). Aside from that, technical aspects of this picture leave a lot to be desired.

I don't know if this is a serious entry or not... I guess thinking it might be a joke would be insulting if it's really serious :). I just don't see anything in here that would fit the theme, and it has every flaw anyone ever identifies on DPC - pixelated, unfocussed, fill flash (in a night scene!).... if it's a parody it's very funny :) Well done if that was your intention, and if it wasn't then I think you will get some very upsetting comments.

Nice sunset though.
08/13/2002 01:05:00 AM
What has this to do with the theme? Sorry but I don't get it.
08/12/2002 11:37:00 PM
I'm sorry, I don't see the challenge in here anywhere.
08/12/2002 08:29:00 PM
the bottle is blurred on my screen..like the sky on the horizon.
08/12/2002 06:15:00 PM
The color effect is really slick. I think the bottle is a little distracting, though, and the photo is either too compressed or it's out of focus a bit.
08/12/2002 06:15:00 PM
i'm not quite sure how this relates to the challenge, but it is a neat picture, the sky is really cool. i like how it looks like it's middle of the night at one end and sunset/sunrise at the other.
08/12/2002 04:54:00 PM
not sure what i'm looking at here.
08/12/2002 04:34:00 PM
Compression artifacts (espically in the grass) are very destracting in this photo.
08/12/2002 03:24:00 PM
same photog as last week's over the fence?
08/12/2002 12:23:00 PM
doesn't say something new
08/12/2002 12:23:00 PM
Huh?
08/12/2002 10:00:00 AM
i might be missing something, but i dont understand it at all. The photo is also horribly pixelated.
08/12/2002 04:17:00 AM
New?????
08/12/2002 12:29:00 AM
I am completely lost on what may be 'new' in or about this photo... - jmsetzler
