flood-zone-lr-dsc_0032by tangueraComment: My "other" favorite kind of shot. The problem is always how to bring out the essential details and monochrome/duotone is frequently the solution. It certainly works here and the result is an image deserving a frame and placement providing frequent viewings. |

Anna Clapsby dahlinComment: Really engaging candid-portrait with clear context telling a story even without further explanation. |

Night Sparksby MelonMusketeerComment: I like that you didn't crop this down to focus solely on the lightening & clouds. The full landscape is more natural and informative. |

27-aug 2010 wotever. random kid and dinasaursby rozComment: Well, I like all four of these perhaps for the unnatural atmosphere aided by the fisheye and flash. It all works together to add impact reminiscent of Diane Arbus even if purists might say the parallel is a bit shallow. Every one suits my taste if not my talent which is more limited and less creative. It's great to be able to appreciate it in other. |

27-aug 2010 wotever. dinasaurs and random pplby rozComment: Show me an on camera flash shot and square crop or people always makes me think of Diane Arbus. The main difference here is that the subjects are not addressing the camera, which would of course then not be a candid, which sparks a debate at least in my head. Which is "better": a shot that engages the photographer with the subject or one that does not disturb the subject and captures a natural, unaffected state? I've always felt somewhat deficient in engaging the subject which is perhaps why it is a debate at all perhaps only in my head. It would be a silly debate since the approaches are so different and both merit worthy. |

27-aug 2010 wotever. random ppl and feral catby rozComment: Great catch Roz. The reach of the child triggers my reflex to warn her, even on second look realizing the cat is stuffed and behind glass. I'm a fan of fisheyes effectively used like this. |

try one todayby JutildaComment: Some day when I have more time it will be fun to explore all these filter vendors. Is that what added the precip? My first reaction seeing this shot was "what is she talking about never succeeding at street photography?" This a rare shot. Timing is perfect and the action fills the frame. The precip takes it to another level. If it is an overlay, it works. Message edited by author 2010-08-28 09:17:33. |

Time Machineby GermaineComment: Moody tones and gothic shadows enhance a sense of history provided by the old clocks set to different times. |
