Diagonals and Linesby banmornComment: Highly proficient: great shaprness, exposure and processing; strong tonality also. The bottom left exception to the rhythm of the rest of the glass adds an element of concealed surprise, which lifts the whole image. |

Distance & Lengthby SJCarterComment: Great sense of flow through the frame here, and a good solid exposure. Your sharpening seems overdone on my screen - the leaves have turned into single pixels almost, but i think the voters generally like that so I can't blame you. It has interest photographically, almost verging on a sense of the model from your depth of field. Nice work. |

Bauhausby whiteroomComment: Ah hell ... this is so far beyond everything else in this challenge - I suppose I should add 'in my opinion' - that I almost just stopped voting. I find it unsurprising, though still disappointing, that all those shallow images were rated so much higher. Well; I think this is one of the great images on dpc. |

Umbrella Blownby JPRComment: Interseting set of reactions to this shot J: thought it deserved a higher placing than this, although that burn ... |

Pink Bloom in Summer Stormby bledfordComment: Interesting, this; the bokeh on the raindrops is tremendous, and the blackness of background well done. The composition perhaps demands more detail, more stillness in the flower - and perhaps a calming of the intensity of the colour there - perhaps because I'm not sure. I think this will do well. |

Water Street ( Impressionism)by Prime_TimeComment: There seem almost to be only four or five categories of shot in this challenge. I would have this as the best of the vehicles spraying water category - love the almost tunnel-like shape of the spray here, and the colour tones. |

Raining through the windowby benhurComment: There's an imression like something out of space to this - like an asteroid belt in a movie, or something - that odd swirl of droplets, almost like there are two panes of glass, one behind the other - and of course one can see in the reflections that this is simply the real world. Not an uncommon idea for a shot, but pretty well done this time. |

Into the Storm by dsidwellComment: I suspect the apparently tilted horizon is an optical illusion - I sometimes feel it is better to cheat things a little to correct those, as illusion or no it disturbs the ba;ance of the image somewhat. The absolute darkness of the clouds feels unreal, especially given the contrast with the flatness of the light on the land. |

Rain Rippled Reflectionby Joey LawrenceComment: Strong image; different and intersting composition, but which actually follows all the rules one could wish for. Love the colour - especially the vibrant green - though one might wish for more detail in the horse's face perhaps, for all that it isn't the real subject, it would add depth (as if it were lacking much depth anyhow - but there could be more, no?) |

Suburban Rainby lytaComment: Strong use of that big curve compositionally. I wonder if the massive contrast mightn't be taking things too far - throwing out the baby with the rainwater, perhaps; maybe less of that would allow some stringer degrees of tone to show through, and perhaps take the water on the road less to burn-out point. I think this level of black/white runs too contrary to the scene you've captured, almost I can feel the greyness of that susurban world trying to get out through it. |
