Tunafish pastaby heidaComment: The unusual angle on this makes it stand out a little more. The colors are very neutral, except for the green, and coupled with the white plate/bowl it has a nice minimalist feel. This is certainly something I could expect to see in a cookery book or magazine, or even adorning a restaurant menu. Very nicely prepared and presented. |

Fall Pear Galetteby jas0420Comment: The presentation is really good here, providing nice warm tones, very fall-like. Having the juices dribble down the sides and into the plate really sets the tastebuds drooling. There doesnt seem to be too much to the dish itself, but it has nice textures and the wonderful caramel-colored juices helps make it very appealing. Compositional is also well done. |

Pollo Involtini al'la Nonnaby EddyGComment: This has the classic look you'd expect to find in a cookery book or even on a menu of a fancy restaurant. The food also looks good (even though I think it's chicken). The lighting is good, has a slight warmth to it that's appealing. The fruit and flora adds a nice dimension too. About the only thing I'm not too keen on is the very tip of the fork on the right. I think it needed to be more in the shot or not there at all. It looks like you took a lot of time and effort to get both the food looking good and the presentation. |

Entomologist at workby NatatorComment: Compositionally this is good, it has all the elements associated with the subject and all nicely placed. The hand gives it a nice dimension of being just a little bit more than a still life. I can certainly see science in this image. The lighting is good and the image is clean. It may appeal more to those who have an interest in entomology, but it is still a well-captured image. |

We Are all Under The Microscopeby GolferDDSComment: This has to be the funniest photo of the image. The light and focus on the microscope is good, and compositionally well placed. Of course it is the photograph under the microscope that makes this stand out. Not only is it funny but it also makes an interesting statement, as well as a scary thought about what could be seen while looking through it. At first glance it's a little bland, but I think it certainly makes up for it by being clever and humorous. Something I could certainly see in advertising. |

Ultimate Science Projectby SimplicityComment: There is certainly a lot of color and light in this image. I have no idea what it is, but it doesnt really matter as it seems nicely abstract. For the most part things look sharp and clean. It is certainly visually appealing. |

RGB Coloursby browntComment: The lighting here is good, and it enhances the colored liquids well. Not sure about the hand, it adds a different aspect to the shot that could have been boring without it, but I also wonder as to what purpose it serves in the shot too, other than possibly hiding the light source. The green bottle is differentand appealing, and certainly a change from the beakers. The bottles/beakers look quite sharp and are quite effective. Of all the beaker-type shots this is my favorite. |

My science projectby heidaComment: Good control of dof to blur the background. I think this background works better than if you had had a plain background, it has more impact this way. The instruments in the foreground are nicely sharp, and the liquid color is a nice contrast to the blue. The test tube looks a little streaky/dirty, but it was likely your 13th shot or something and it doesnt distract too much. Shooting glass is difficult and you handled light glare very well. |

E. coli, it's what's on your plate by fas-ligandComment: It certainly has a clinical feel to it, very scientific. The image is sharp, the reflections are clean, color is good, and the lighting is nicely even. Slight improvements could have been moving the samples(?) in a bit closer so the end wasnt cropped out. |

H2O by kiwinessComment: Wow! Simply amazing. Very effective, has a scientific formula, the color is strong and good. The light reflections in each of the droplets is good. There isnt anything bad to say about this really. My favorite picture of the challenge. |
