Good image with nice lighting that accents the subject; I agree a lighter background might have allowed the doll to be seen more, but the dark works well for emphasizing her face a bit more.

So much feeling in this image, even without the story (which was a nice touch); perfect sharpness in the wire, but great use of depth of field to emphasize the worn aspects. Nice, neutral background helps, too. Excellent.

Not too dark for me, either, fading nicely into shadows at the rear. The blue works well here, too, and looks "natural" as opposed to added in processing. Nicely done.

Excellent choices, making this a really interesting image, and something a bit different from the norm with these kinds of sparklies. I am jealous, though (not of the diamond, of the slave flash and studio+lighting) :)

I love the individual threads visible in the raised swab; the "sea of swabs" works for me. I see the one as fighting to rise up from the masses. Nice.

I agree a slightly less centered center might make this stronger, but think it is quite strong as is, too. The colors are nice and vibrant, and the detail is wonderful, especially on the rusty nail in the center.

I like this, too; I think you're being a bit hard on yourself, knowing what you see in your mind, and not having the image match. Experiment freely, especially here! This is a good, solid image. The effects work well to deemphasize the narrowness of the thread, while still allowing me to know what it is. Instead, I focus on the colors and the nuances in the shades. Lovely image.
