A Sunset Dipby JayWalkComment: There's too much sky. Consider the rule of thirds when placing your horizon. DOF could be stronger by getting the trainers with a slightly sharper focus. Otherwise a good idea well done. I like how you lead the viewer from the shoes to the wader with their orientation, and the way you picked out just enough of the sunlight on the trainers and nothing else. 6
A tiny point I noticed, was the lack of footprints between the 2. Can he fly? If so, cool! I'd pay to see that. :D |

divorced...by taterbugComment: Youy could crop away about a 1/6th off the top and the right hand side imo. I like the gloomy atmosphere you've evoked though. |

Rippedby grahamwComment: Nice simple composition, and the overexposure making the soles and heels bleed into the background really helps to focus on the subject and nothing else: the rip in the shoes. Well picked out. |

shoesby melodeeComment: Poor lighting, check your WB. Nothing is in focus. Just looks like your camera fell by the shoes and took the shot accidentally. |

Frictionby EkenborgComment: Good use of DOF. Although it looks a bit like the pose of the following shoe is kinda artifical just so it can be fully visible beside the front shoe. It would seem more natural if the perspective caused some of it to be obscured behind the front shoe. And I know this may seem like nitpicking (that's what happens with a good idea that's well executed) but maybe there should be some contact with the ground (even the heel of the shoe perhaps) to really carry through the effect of grip and friction. 9 |

Gone Surfingby cherylogleComment: The horizon seems tilted, and where's the surfer in the background that's mentioned in the title? The division between sand and sea could also be further from the centre to improve composition. Think rule of thirds. I'd also like to see the sandals maybe facing towards the sea and help draw the viewers eyes out there.

ShOe aRtby senojComment: I guess you submitted the wrong pic by mistake or something, yes? If not, then I can't see anything in focus or relating to shoes there at all. |

my favoritesby paholl31Comment: A bit distracting the way you caught yourself (along with a fair bit of your neighbourhood it seems) in the reflection on the heels. Maybe if your cropping was a bit less enthuastic and included the shadow and reflection of the shoe on the bonnet (i assume it's a car) the composition would improve quite a bit. It would strengthen the effect of the glossy shiny textures in this shot. |

Dying to Rideby BikeRacerComment: Composition would be stronger if the shoes were seperated slightly. At first glance it just looks like one shoe. Also a small point but, they look more like: 'resting away from the bike' than 'dying to ride'. Wouldn't they be clipped into the pedals? Nice use of depth of field to pick out the subjects. |

Suzie Wong's Red Boots.by modprodComment: Seems more like a pic of Suzie Wong than her boots. Even as a portrait of Suzie rather than her boots the hair in her eyes is annoying, and there's a lot of empty space above her serving no discernible purpose. You could have made this fit the challenge by using less, like maybe just the boots and the tattoo. Less is more. |
